Hmmmm. I say its not so much the driver having moments of madness, its the car isnt as consistant as some, say a GTR where the balance between brakes and suspension vs power buy you a bit more room for error.

So how do you explain him taking out 7 cones in his first 6 events at Dutton behind the wheel of a GT-R? Not to mention falling in that same hole at the kink in Chris' car as he did in the video of Big Red. It can't all be simply because I wouldn't buy him a sausage! :whistling:

You shit stirrer Bris. I know what your doing.

I think you will be really suprised. As Chris said "But a good GTR driver will know that they can enter with slight understeer and push their car into oversteer by utilizing the 4WD" you will be really suprised. Adz also made the other point "A GTR is like driving a RWD but it just does everything faster". I belive they have to be corrected way quicker under power than a gtst as the front tyres do steer you.

They are different to drive and will compensate a bad drive but not to the point you would believe in a modified gtr as the bad driver will brake at the same point, carry less corner speed and straighten up before the power is going down and if the rwd and gtr have a good suspension setup they will carry the same corner speed so the driver is only really loosing out on a little lost exit grip.

Your thoughts????

Well mate. I dont have an answer for that? But i will say that you were a tad fortunate (by fortunate i mean God himslef got out of bed to come and stop you from writing off Chris's GTR at Winton, the day after you took out five or 6 cones) to have finished Dutton 06 with no scratches. :D A scratched rim would have been the damage of choice in light of what you cheated.

So we all have moments when we push. I have made plenty of fark ups. i dont mean to but it happens

Im sure your all sick of this by now but here is some higer quality footage of the day for those that are sick of squinting at youtube.

DECA compilation Hi Quality

Oh yeah why doesnt spin kings work anymore? Kinda convenient dont you think?

Cheers.

Wow, someone has pace, nice driving. Finally Mr Brisby has met his match.

He already quicker then me. No matter. Will be fun to sit back and watch the car go quicker and quicker as its developed as at present the thing is straight ot of the box.

Little RB20 is going to run out of puff in the next few track days, it doesnt have much speed left in it to combat the Adz, Ray, Matt and Dane onslaught that is coming :P

We've gotta catch you first mate!

Your first track day at Sandown with 220rwkws or so and you pumped out a 1:24 didnt you? Thats damn impressive considering the amount of track work you had done (or more to the point hadn't done) and the car being straight out of car show!

That is damn impresive!!

Haha not quite mate, but I'll take the 24 if it's on offer! :)

I got a 1:25.09, it was my 3rd track day and 2nd at Sandown with about 200rwkw's. One more session and I would've cracked it I reckon, damn unreliable rex's dropping oil :teehee: My first track day which was Sandown I got a 28.

Still a while off of you yet, let alone what times I imagine you're going to run over the next few months Adam!

Andrew: Sorry mate, all I have is this showbag for you :D

My first (and only) track day at Sandown i did 1.22 - quick someone give me a medal.

Yeh thats scary good. It probably helps out of site that you have driven tracks like Winton and PI before you going there.

Dane, sorry, i thought you dipped into the 1:24s that day i was watching you. You had the Recaro and black LMs...was that your first or 2nd day???

Must have been your second as i remember you posted good times, must have been the low 1:25.

That was my second day Troy, first one was with Gold mesh BBS style rims :teehee:

All this talk is making me really antsy to get my car back for more of this action! I think I need some new tyres though :)

SHould be ready in the next 6-8weeks I imagine, it's at the shop now.

Do you have any video footage I could grab off of you of that day Ryan? Those were stills from a video right?

    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
