There is nothing wrong with 400rwkw....well unless you want more :D

Why not try the T517Z? I had them on my old setup and was able to put out 422rwkw on Willallracing dyno. The setup was a fun and reliable package for drag/circuit for 2 years aldready.

I upgraded the engine and maxed out these turbo with my current setup. I am looking at getting the T618Z's. I will use the T517Z for one more track day and will more than likely replace them with their larger bros. Does anyone have a pair of T618Z that they want to swap for a pair of T517Z? GTR747, if you are keen on these turbo or my complete old setup let me know. I changed the engine because the cam seals were old and a bit leaky but other than that the engine was still strong ;) I still have the power fc map for this setup. All you need to do is recondition the head, replace the rings, get a pair of manifold and you will have a reliable setup. My car and the spare RB26 are in SA atm too ;)

BTW sorry to go off topic but just want to help ;)

Thanks guys for all your help - im going with the GT-SS kit poss from nengun. Does anyone know if i'll be hit with any import tax's or anything? I have done some research and so far its been a mixed bag of answers.

anything over $1000 will attract duty.

Customs aren't silly.

They know all the people sending stuff in from JPN, so you'll be lucky if you get around it for turbos

come on, dont let them change your goal

you've gone down from 400 to 300 :D

go HKS 2530's, has both response and top end power

there's always room to improve your kw down the track, whereas with GT-SS, you won't improve much more than 330rwkw

what he said...2530's need 2bar of boost to do 400AWKW so its really stretching them too. GT-RS turbo's are the king of bolt on turbo's...currently powering the fastest bolt on turbo GTR on the planet.

save yourself some headaches, heartache's and lots of time and stress. Sell all the gear you have and buy our car...simple 500kw all day every day at a lowly 25psi.

Funny Funny lol but its true fastest bolt GTR on the planet

Im not saying i'll get around it, just how much duty it will attract roughly

wow I never knew the 517z were capable of that much power...at what boost ? I always thought for those sort of numbers a 518Z was required....awesome result

hmmmmmmmmmm....a gift ay, :(

I didn't think they T517Z's were capable of that much power either !!!! :P

if your interested in buying from japan can i suggest emailing Streeter (he normally trades on ns.com) far far more reliable and cheaper then neugun. his email address is [email protected]

awesome reputation also so have no fear ordering from him

+1

best and cheapest way to gets stuff from from yahoo auctions, with the least hassles, even if you speak japanese :)

Remember whith trust t517z you need trust dumps becuase the internal wastegate is on the opposite side to garret trubo, so you need dump pipes to suit..

9krpm, your turbo's are still T517z just with a 10cm housing, they also come in a 8cm housing, much like you can get say a garrett 3071r in a .64, .81, .96 housings ect

wow I am really impressed by these T517Z's....Anybody else got any experience with them ? or maybe with the 518Z ? They seem to be a fair bit cheaper than equivalent HKS and yet perform every bit as good and maybe better..But last I heard was they dont come with water cooling...is this correct ? As a circuit/Street car oil coolers would then be even more critical...I am assuming

I would love to hear more about the T518Z too. I have a Greddy oil cooler kit and the oil temp has been fine at QR raceway. I only overheated once at Mallala but that was possibly from air in my coolant system.

Thanks for the info Daynamix;) I thought they are T5178Z all along :)

How is this differ from a T618Z and what would I expect with the larger turbo?

BTW the previous power was achieved with 18psi.

Some people call them either T5178z ot a T51710z, the last numbers which are 8 and 10 on both the names i mentioned refer to what size housing they are, eg T5178z would have the 8cm housing, and 10 would be the 10cm housing.. The differences between the T517z and the T618z would be like the difference between HKS GT-SS and GT-RS turbos.. T618z would be to big for the rb26, as they're the biggest low mounts trust make and would be suitable for a 2.8 stroker, just keep you current one's, they're a great bit of gear, i'm tossing up weather to run them on my next gt-r..

URAS will be able to give you some more info on these turbo's as he's built an rb26 s13 with these turbo's for driftcat..

Cheers.

Thanks Dyn. I bought a slightly stroked engine from Willallracing and have maxed out the T517Z. They currently have awesome midrange but are choking my top end. I can't produce any more top end power with them compare to the 2.6L. My tuner is tweaking it atm and I will see how it perform at the track.....but I think I will go bigger eventually :)

Customs are silly and there is no duty on turbo's GST yes Duty no definitely not.

They tried to slug me duty and as I know people in the import export trade i asked they they knew straight away

Get a good customs broker and they will tell you the same

cant get around GST though

    • Hi, We've all posted some thread, or know of some other person's thread, that contains information that we want to send people who are asking question to. But if we don't have a link readily available, have to go do a search for the thread before being able to do so. So, it occurred to me that we could possibly utilise the auto-text-replace function that fixes some of my swear words to perhaps auto replace some special keywords with text that also has a link to the thread. A specific example. The thread that I did with the improved R32 GTR wiring diagram scans. If the phrase "R32 GTR wiring diagram" could be auto replaced with "R32 GTR wiring diagram" then all I (or @Duncan, or any of the others that refer to the thread) need to do is remember that that's the keyword (or phrase in this case). OK, it would be better if this keyphrase wasn't that long, but it does need to be specific enough that it doesn't get triggered automatically. And obviously there are threads on turbo topics, or suspension topics that we could treat similarly. Alternatively (and/or additionally), I've been thinking about trying to build a library of the real expert content that is trapped in the bowels of the 25odd years of this site. Things like some of SydneyKid's content. There are threads that he started that should be more easily found, and he has individual posts, or series of posts, in other people's threads, containing very good information. Some of us know that it is there, but....just have no memory of exactly where/when/how we saw it. If we had some sort of library thread, we could put posts in there containing links to things we've found, suggestions for how to categorise it, then a mod or other appointed thread maintainer can copy the link and any key text up into the first post in the library thread. There are probably many other ways to get it done. Some sort of wiki is probably the best way.   Thoughts?
    • But, probably that happened to the last person too, which is why the RTV was there.....if you aren't putting a new gasket in you will need to seal the old gasket back to the metal surface with something, the gaskets will generally only work properly for a single use as they set/harden in that shape
    • What is with the horrible blue and white bit in the centre of the wheels, didn't that come off with some scrubbing?
    • Not sure how broadly you define Northside  but Castle Hill Exhaust are still around and could sort it.
    • I haven't done this as I still use the factory cluster, but I do know the circuits for the flash vs on for hi beam are separate which is likely the issue. The ON runs full power through the switch and the flash uses the relay in the engine bay. I'd hit the wiring diagram per GTSBoy's suggestion
