hi all,

After some info on the best way to approach this.

I currently have an safc2 fitted to a series 1 r33 gtst it has full turbo back 3 inch with hi flow magnaflow metal cat standard turbo apexi pod and ebc set at 10 psi, r34 smic. Currently sitting at 171 rwkw tuned by mercury in bris.

I have been finally able to obtain a apexi sitc, (rare as rocking horse shit), question is once it is installed will i require a full retune or is it a matter of mechanics having a fair idea of settings, also what do i need to explain to the tuner that i want to sacrifice top end power to give it more low end pull (rarely rev it over 6000 rpm).

Thanks

it is essentially a new tune.

they will run the car as is.

then they will need to adjust timing and fuel at each available tuning point..

then run it again.

check it, make some more changes, run again etc etc.

until there is a "good" compromise.

not sure what you mean by sacrifice top end for more midrange..

you're not installing cams or different turbo.

If it is stock turbo (which is sounds like it is), then it wont change much.

The additional timing that he will be able to put in to the thing at lower revs will bring on the turbo quicker so I guess you will get better midrange in that sense.

Top end will not change much if at all.

although, your 171rwkw at 10psi seems to be down on most peoples 190ish.

so it's possible that he might be able to add/reduce timing and adjust the fuel to match to make more power all through the rev range.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
