Yeah that car was imported aages ago... I don't go into the J-Spec office any more, so I can't look em up for you, but I'll see if I can ask the guys to dig up any paperwork they may have on it.

DOTORS can't find the VIN for the uncomplied car I just sold :)

Need to get this sorted ASAP so help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jarryd

Hey there Jarryd,

You can email me directly at [email protected] and I will be happy to help you ... just for the record we no longer use that mobile phone number so email is the best form of contact.

I have looked up that Cefiro but I am not sure what you need us to do for you exactly? ... DOTARS should have record of it because our client who originally imported it would have recieved an import approval from DOTARS before it was imported, if you purchased the car from him then you should have recieved that import approval paperwork also.

If it's just a case of the registration authority not having the VIN on their system then you need to provide them with the import approval and request that they contact DOTARS to ave it added as it should have been when the approval was issued, although a few do slip through the cracks so this has happened before. In similar situations in the past we have tried to get DOTARS to rectify the mistake but they insisted that the rego authority must be the ones to request it.

In any case please email me with what you actually require and I will see what we can do.

Regards,

Craig @ J-Spec Imports

Sorry I need a direct contact number for Craig or Ben. I have exhausted all other avenues at this stage. This is starting to get serious. Both DOTARS and QLD transport have mentioned the probability that the car was imported illegally.

dude, it could not have been imported without a VIA. simple. you physically could not get it off a boat and through customs. so it definitely had one. looking at the car I'd say it was under the 15yo scheme. contact whoever the owner was that imported it (ie not j-spec they are just the broker). the import approval would be in his name. unless it's a SEVS car in which case the workshop complying it would have applied for the VIA. don't stress, I'm sure it will be fine.

you're using 6U900000A31004026 as your VIN, right?

You need to contact NEVDIS in Sydney to add it to the nationwide system.

This happens a lot with cars under the 15 year old scheme.

The car will have an import approval for sure, don't know why DOTARS can't find it.

don't worry, everything's kosher here.

Is this the same person that I am already communicating with? .. if not then please email me directly at [email protected] or leave a phone number here and I will call you back?

Latest on this is we are waiting to hear back from the customs agent that cleared the car. They should have record of the import approval number which I can then take to DOTARS and hopefully have this cleared up.

Thanks Craig and J-spec for their help so far.

Craig I sent an email asking you to call me ASAP on the 4th of March. Why do you refuse to give me a number I can contact you on?

I will be refunding the buyer in full in the next couple of days as he has lost patience.
