A great night, thanks a lot to the organisers for the cheap dyno run and the free ignition DVD's and redbull :(

The dis-organisation of the event was a little frustrating, I was down as the 3rd person to run and ended up about 20th or so, and I got to the front and had to let 2 feature cars go before me!

Was I the only one with stock turbo's on an R33 GTR? I want to compare dyno graphs with other people who are not running lots of mods on there GTR's (r32/r33/r34)

Anyway, I might be back to RE to get a PowerFC and a tune to Australian fuel, not the Japanese tune I have :(

Oh, does anyone know how accurate the boost measurement was from the dyno? It says constant 10PSI but my HKS EVC IV says low of 0.9bar high of 1.0 bar (14.7PSI).

Yeh i spoke to you for a bit out the front about this while you were waiting to get onto the dyno, What did your car end up making? I was waiting out the front in line when your car went on. I get my power fc tuned at RE and find the boost reading to be very accurate there. If anything I'd say your hks unit is reading incorrectly as opposed to the man pressure on the dyno. Might be a stupid question but you sure the graph your looking at is boost and not afr's? that might explain it.

I am running Stock

-Turbo's

-Air Box

-Exhaust

-etc..

Only mods

- Air filter

- CAT

- PFC

I run a lean setup will within it's limits. 179kw @ all 4 can with current setup tune to make 210-220 ish, just in tunning. Speak with Ray at RE Customs he knows his stuff.

Ahh yes I remember, thats when I put myself in the line properly to prevent the queue jumpers getting past me

Hmm, well its possible the HKS is set incorrectly, does anyone know if it keeps its settings after complete power loss? They killed the battery after importing took errr >5months. And it *thinks* it has a low setting of 0.9 and high of 1.0.

But I don't know if its been through its "learning" mode for aligning the boost correctly.

I'm just reading the "psi" line on the dyno graph I got.

156.6 AWKW, aftermarket exhaust (not sure if its turbo back), greddy radiator, boost controller, mines ecu (Japanese tune!), and various mods to diff / suspension mods. It had pods which I removed and its running a compliance cat and compliance air filter.

I'll definitely speak to Ray or RacePace next month or the month after when I have some $$$ to spend on something like a PowerFC.

The turbo's would appear to be stock, or they were set to run very low boost.

Apologies for hi-jacking the thread, but is there an easy way to confirm that I have stock turbo's? Compliance advised its not possible to do this without removing the engine or similar.

Regards,

Gareth

Yep absolutely massive turnout! easy 100 cars there ( 50 of them skylines lol) , there were even cars parked all the way around the corner on the main rd!

Great that there were no police/defect troubles.. but i its guess because everyone behaved themselves.

Was a little disorganised with the line of cars waiting to run, which inevitable blocked my car from leaving at 10.30 pm. but overall great event.

Powerwise they sound like stock turbo's, do you know what afr's the car is running? I'd say your hks unit is incorrect as you would be making much more power on 1 bar.

and yeh power fc + 1 bar or boost and full exhaust without that restrictive compliance cat and you'll be laughing.

This appeared to be a HUGE turnout...

I am shattered i missed this but i was away on Holiday and didn't get back until today.

Massive TOP work to Ray and his crew for hosting which appears to be a Kick ass night!!!

Hope none of you were sitting on my car

I don't know the AFR's. Yes, could be stock turbo's, I'm just been overoptimistic and hoping they're high flowed or something .

I mean the guy did everything but the *engine* mods from what I can see (compliance said it was one of the most modified car they had ever seen as far as mods go but I don't know if that was true or not).

Thanks for the info. The HKS unit probably has incorrect settings, there is a steering-mounted boost gauge but its hard to watch and there's no where on the street where I can reach full boost without it counting as "hooning".

some_cs_student what did you get on the dyno ?? i got a stock 33 gtr also, just has catbak / 14psi.. i didnt go on the dyno though sad.gif i left early.

156.6 AWKW, I got there at 7:45, it was so busy when I got there, I had a great night!

Great night with an even greater turnout...

I was really surprised with my car... ...I didn't think I'd get anywhere near 120kW... ...But I got 148.3kW... \m/ =^_^= \m/

But then today I was looking around on Wikipedia and it says that stock it should be higher... (-_-)

""ECR33 GTS25T - 2.5 L RB25DET DOHC turbo I6, 250 PS (184 kW, 294 N m)""

As this is the first time I've had my car on a dyno... ...I think I need to be educamated some more...

184kw is at the flywheel....which is why in general an R33 GTS-T makes like 130-140rwkw stock...

Ahh... ...Kewl... ...Thanks for that...

I think I might set a goal of 200kW by the end of the year... ...I have no idea how to get there or the cash I'll need...

I like settings goals... ...setting them... ...completing them is another thing... ()

3" exhaust, front mount and an SAFC/power fc...

It was a great night.

Good meeting majority of the SAU crew.

The reason the cops didn't give anyone a hard time was because they where involved in the planning of the event every step of the way. They came down to wave the flag, have a chat to myself and Ray to ensure that everyone would behave and in kind they would let us be and enjoy doing what we do.

Great turnout, great cars and be sure to get down to the next one in a few months time!

Which was your car? was is the silver r33 with the blue graphics?

Which was your car? was is the silver r33 with the blue graphics?

More purple... ...with stars on the hind quarters...

And the Decepticon logo on the tail...

All of which I'm now thinking of changing... ...to I don't know what...

    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
    • Pretty sure they run the same engine as the Q50 hybrid which specifies 95 RON.  I ran 98 in mine for a while, but it made no difference in performance or economy, so I have been using 95 for the last few years.  I have never hit 6.0L/100km, but have returned mid to high 6 on the highway.  Being a hybrid, fuel economy is a lot more dependant on how you drive it.  At 110km/h, mine never goes into EV mode on the highway, so returns closer to 7.5L/100. urban driving can return low 8s if you are careful or over 10 if you are a bit more enthusiastic on the throttle.
    • About a quarter of what you want to do. It's only R7R, not R&dismantle&replaceparts&reassemble&R. ? It is stock. I already told you, you will NOT have broken those. It's f**king 4th gear for Christ's sake. You just chipped the teeth off.
