Hey guys, just wondering what sort of oil filter I need for my RB25DE. I need to change the oil soon, and wanted to grab the right parts, obviously. Do Repco/Super Cheap/Auto One sell these parts? I am in WA so I don't have access to shops like Autobarn that I know of. I would buy one from Nissan, but I don't have time to go there, and they are usually too expencive. Also, do you guys know what sort of sump plug washer i need?

Rhys

Cheers RB30 POWER, thats exactly what I need. I did a search but couldn't find anything.

I thought Nissan parts were more expensive than that? Oh well, thanx anyway

Id rather use Nissan genuine parts on my Skyline than Repco or Super Cheap auto... then again mine is turbo so has a harder life than yours ?

the genuine nissan filters are no longer made in japan anyway, they are just cheap indonesian crap with a nissan stamp like everything else, thats why i stopped using them a few years back.

i run nothing but ac delco filters now, get them for just under $5 trade and they are very good.

hey guys

Ive used Ryco as well. Im in Perth but i picked up my Ryco filter from Auto1... high road willeton (Few shops down from repco). THe address is 151 High Road, WILLETON, WA 6155 THey(Ryco) seem to have good reputation behind them and as mentioned before the geninue nissan parts arent what they used to be....

Hope this helps!~

Oh and here is the link to the stores in Perth WA just incase that one i mentioned above is a bit far away...

I bought myself a Valvoline oil filter yesterday, a Z145A like you guys said, but it is much bigger than the one on my car nah, not even slightly similar! I'm going to get my boss to check his database 2moro 2 see what filter I need, but does anyone know the actual filter? I'm really pissed off atm. My car desperately needs an oil change!

you want the Z442 filter then, its smaller.

but usually only used on R34 model skylines and sr20 pulsars.

if you buy a nismo filter its a Z442 filter and says it can be used in place of the larger Z145A filters on the earlier RB's as well.

if the Z145A fits, i would use that as its larger and has more filtration media in it.

if not get the Z442, but thats odd, only ever seen that smaller filter in R34.

Yeh, I was surprised when I found out. I don't have any service records for my car though, so I'm not sure whats going on. But if the filter is bigger, its not going to fit on the small mounts or what ever you want to call it. I'll have a look at the Z442 tho. I'd rather not do the whole guess, check and improve though, I want to get it right the first time! There wouldn't be any difference between the turbo and NA models would there?

Go to local Nissan dealer and order:

Nissan Part numbers as follows:

OIL FILTER - 15208-H8911 - $7.95

FUEL FILTER - 16400-41B05 - $31.55

Prices may have changed slightly as this is from around 3-4 years ago.

That's one expensive fuel filter.... id stick with a ryco. i think it cost me $12 and it will be equal if not better quality than a nissan filter

Sounds very strange that a Z145A wont fit. I haven't really had any dealings with the N/A RB's but i cant imagine they would use a different filter. There is a very high chance that the filter that is on your car currently should have its model stamped/painted on it somewhere. if you cant see anything from the top you might have to jack the car up and have a squiz from undernieth or maybe try using a mirror from the top?

Talked to one of the mechanics from work, apparently all Nissan filters are smaller than their aftermarket equivelents. The Ryco filter on his patrol is about 1/3 bigger than the Nissan part that came with the car. I'll try it on 2moro, and hopefully it works this time!!

btw, Brendan, I try to avoid Auto1. Everytime I go there I get the same guy, possibly retarted, has no idea what he's selling me. Tried to sell me a sump plug washer that was a completely different size and material then I asked for. Told him to shove it and walked out. I prefer Repco, they actually know what they are talking about. We get all our parts from Repco for work, never had a problem with them before.

I agree...most of the workers at these shops dont know what there talking about. I usually get advice from forums (such as this one  and other poeple i know) and just simply buy from auto1 or repco and dont ask any questions hahaha :ermm: saFer that way

How did you go btw? Get it fixed?

Oh yeah usually the filters are bigger then the orginals because its cheaper to make them that way. Smaller oil filters usually have to have the filter material wound around a few times to make the surface area larger, where as a larger one is just wound around once :). Thats what i think anyway :ermm:

    • Clutch done also about a year ago got a DCS HD Single Plate. Basically done everything but touch the engine 🤣 But will definitely get a fuel pump and ECU, then start saving 🫡
    • Fuel pump and clutch and ecu that’ll get you to about 230 or so kw, after that the sky’s the limit and the budget blows out faster then you can blink
    • Should add all mods on the car are done in my ownership. The car was a 1 owner in Japan and I'm first owner in Aus.
    • Thanks GTSBoy. Did BC's so not Japanese coilovers. I've already done all the other points you mentioned besides the seat, I like the factory seats and want to keep original look. Done all the fluids and comp tests etc and all consistent and clean. Well and truly used to the power and car as I've been driving it for a few years as it is now. Contemplating next steps mainly. Preference to remain twins too. @Murray_Calavera Paying for labour.
    • Hmm. I don't think it is possible. As soon as you start, you will be on the hook for all the money. $5-10k is enough to make it fragile. Here's the list of things you need to do to make it nice, and driveable. If Japanese coilovers, get them measured and tested, then decide if you're keeping them or replacing them. If low rate springs, then consider big ARBs. If high rate springs, then probably leave stock ARBs. Either way, ad decent end links. Replace and/or upgrade all suspension bushes. That's LCAs front and rear, UCAs & traction arms at rear, caster rods at front. I highly recommend GKTech FUCAs, although the step to spherical joints is a step too far for some people. Rebuild brakes front and rear. This means making sure the calipers are healthy, discs are up to thickness, hoses are replaced with braided. Add good pads and fluid. Investigate wheel bearings all the way around, tie rod ends all the way around, upright bearings at the front, balljoints everywhere. Any of these that are still original are likely to be a bit wibbly nowadays. Bride or Recaro driver's seat, with fairly deep sides. Nice tyres. Street performance wheel alignment. Or track focused, if you're not going to use it on the road. Fluids everywhere if not known to be fresh. Now, learn to drive the car as hard as it will go, before trying to add any power. Save up big $$. $5k is the minimum cost for putting a decent ECU into it. A big single, with manifold, new exhaust, injectors, fuel system upgrade, ignition upgrade, triggering upgrade, etc, is >>$10k. None of that (except the ECU) is a good idea on an old RB. You really should put head studs in it, investigate engine health (compression and leak down, real oil pressure at revs, coolant condition, etc) before even considering adding power. There's nothing sadder than the "I added boost then it shat the bed" thread.
