Recommended Posts

hmmm just had a quick look, i could pick up a bosch 023 for 190 delivered :O thats not bad :D half price sale or something lol its the same price as the 040 :O and the 023 is biggerhp and flow better stronger apparently :D makes sense to me to get the 023 .. i'm still after some GTR injectors if anyone knows anyone who has a set, much appreciated :(

regards JEZ.

Go the 023!!

I run a bosche 023 largest in tank puppy available and nice a easy to install, i have also heard alot of bad things about walbro pumps

I had one of these after my GTR pump ran out of flow! Pretty good and i didnt find it that noisy?? How was yours for noise?

Just outta curiosity, does anyone know the flow rate of a stock gtst and gtr pump??

lookin at doin the fuel pump soon to, found a 040 for $106 is that bout right price??

is it just as simple as pull one out slide one in?? or does some attatching hardware need "adjusting"

I was really amazed at how quiet it is, compared to some its a whisper :)

yeah thats what i thought, i was hoping mine wasnt some freaky one that wasnt working properly or something ha ha, mine was no louder than the GTR pump i had before it

revival, lol. i run a walbro gss 341 on my xr6 turbo ute. 500hp at the wheels. been runnin for 2 years and no probs at all. ill get an 023 for my 32 tho. i think some of the walbro pumps fail because of the filter pillow not being correctly installed. i plastic welded mine all round so no crap can get in.

When looking at buying a fuel pump for your vehicle, look at the flow rate not the horse power "rating".

The horse power rating on a fuel pump is what Ive tested is a load of s.........

Bosch 040 in-tank is a open base in-tank pump flowing 102 Liters of fuel per hour = 1.7Liter per minute. (genuine, its in there test book)

Now this is at 6.5 bar of fuel pressure, keep in mind your pressure at idle should be around 2 bar.

You need 600cc of fuel to support 100 hp at the crank per minute. Now do the maths from there, this is science and you cannot re-write it.

The walbo pump is 255 Liters per hour flowing 4.25 Liters per minute @ 3 bar.

The walbro is a much better/bigger pump for your modern day skyline, they are even better when used to fill a surge tank with an external pump on the other end.

What most of you forget that some pumps are great for a 10-15 second power run on a dyno machine. (the old story goes..... my mates skyline made 360hp on a stock 040 pump, blah blah blah)

It properly did old mate, (AFR were properly @ 13.1.1 to) but then old mate took it out on the st, he went 1st gear, 2nd, 3rd, but in 4th gear it was missing and not running right.

This is what "we call" G-force over flow rate, engine leans out and dies.

It is very important you seek the right advice when setting up your fuel system, speck to the performance people, shops and suppliers, the right suppliers will Gide you with the best setup for your application.

Keep in mind, the higher the pressure, the lower the flow.

A nice bit of solid reading there  , With readings etc no bs nice work . Any one gone into more depth studying with these certain pumps with GOOD Fuel pressure regs etc . Im thinking 040, i was listing to a 044 the other day and it noisy. I also know it has to do with the correct mounting in the cradle which does help harmonic noise from fuel pump' it was mentioned before about the fuel resistant hose to help insulate. Some of you boys have nice pumps already. Try insulating them and reposition them and let us no how you pump sound is. I only have a GTST pump " i only hear it prime.

Turbosmart FPR Regulator.

I run a Carter Gold Lifter pump, 2.5Lt Surge, 2xBosch 044's. This system hasn't failed me going on 2 years...about as old as this thread.

Ideally you want a low pressure lifter pump like the Carter Gold to fill your surge rather than having a high pressure pump like an 040/023 run constantly.

or keep the stock pump as a lift pump

at low pressure the stock pump is gonna flow a heap more

but swirl pots are totally different to just running a bigger in tank pump

You could do that but some of these cars (R32) are over 20 years old, i'd rather fork out the $180~ or so for a brand new lifter pump when running a surge tank setup.

Ran a Walbro intank in my old skyline was one of the first mods, ran fine with no issues for bout 3yrs and 140,000kms worth of driving never had an issue and towards the end the car was producing over 500hp
