The thing that in sure many wont agree with is that the GTR was fading fast and that was only after 5 laps although i will admit it was most likely a combination of tyres AND brakes. The cars too heavy.

Had the GT3 not been held up by its slower sister, i think things would have been very different.

The Brakes on the GTR would have to be the achilles heel of the car would they not?

Totally agree with you. A combination of tyres and brakes overheating after a few laps seemed the GTR's only flaw (very typical true road car traits those). And yep, it's all due to being a fat girl. Doesn't change the fact that that was an outstanding performance from a car in that price bracket, and bodes very well for the forthcoming V-Spec version!

As for whoever said the Gallardo Superleggara is a fully carbon bodied AND supercharged version, good God man, get a grip! It simply has a combination of carbon undertrays/interior panels/lexan engine cover, and some slight engine fettling like agressive tune and big throttle bodies etc. They still only make around 270 AWKW on a dyno dynamics, but they're a wonderfully light car, kinda like I wished the R35 had of been :domokun: (or may yet become!!)

I didn't really think the GTR faded that fast (the old GTRs faded much faster IIRC). Anyone wanna paste the change in lap times? I think most of the race was battling through traffic, so the long term aspects weren't really covered well (I think the fastest lap was the last?).

No doubt the brakes will be an issue though you are quite right.

1st Gallardo SL:1,01,599/1330kg/530ps

2nd NISSAN GT-R:1,02,125/1740kg/480ps

Half a second slower despite the HUGE weight and power differences, very impressive. Still can't get over that tough, 400 freakin kilo's heavier!!!

Basically what this all means is that the V-Spec is going to OWN ALL!!!! :D:domokun:

did someone pull a plug lead off the lambo? I demand a re-run with Paul Stokell peddelling it! They had to really knobble the Lambo and Fezza with inlet restrictors in Nations cup to bring them down to the Porsche GT3's lap times. I remember when they combined NC and GTP grids at Sandown the R32 golf would out-drag the Ferrari down the straights thanks to the tiny inlet restrictors.

You could very well be right. But these vids are for entertainment only. I woudl not make the mistake of readign too much into the lap times etc. For one, the golden rule of different drivers. Also we dont knwo the condition on which the cars were leant to the program, so dont know hwo hard they were actually allowed to pedal them, are they dealers cars/private owners etc.

So thats part of it. But here is the reason i have a BIG problem with these comparisions. TYRES. HAs anyone noticed how from time to time the NSX Type R inherited semi slicks when up against the M3 CSL, 996 GT3 etc. I have seen other tests where i think it was an EVO has semi slick tyres and humbled Euro cars. These cars didnt come std with this rubber, and how well worn is the rubber on som eof the test vehicles they may have been lent for the program.

So anyway, my feeling is some cars are helped from tiem to time with tyres...so great entertainment...but i would suspect the LAmbo woudl hand it to the GTR on equyal tyres and equal drivers. But, then again, the torque from a 3.8l TT engine sure helps an AWD car jump out of corners

There have been plenty of down 1700+ kg GT-R's here on std brakes, and the R33/R34 brakes arn't a patch on the R35 brakes. It will be very heavy on tyres though (esp if it can find R comps)

semi slicks are looking very unliekly for the targa car. even if they downgrade to 19" rims (which just clear the brakes) there is only really 1 brand and size that gets them, some pirellis built for amg merc. not ideal.

    • This might be true if you live in NZ but I can't see how this could be true for us locals here.  I've found the customer support for Haltech to be absolutely amazing. I've turned up to Haltech and spent entire days with their tech support guys, they've even helped me with wiring dramas that had nothing to do with their products.  They have the best customer support of any company I've dealt with, I can't imagine how my experiences with them could possibly be any better.
    • If you want to do a single throttle body conversion easily, you won't need to pull anything apart. Take the linkage from your throttle off the linkage controlling the ITBs. Now open the ITBs wide open, and lock the linkages in said position. Now add a single throttle body onto the front of your inlet plenum. No it's not ideal for the last nth of a kw, but it'll be a lot better than what you're already trying to do...   PS, ITBs can be so damn hard to tune from, because roughly 20% movement in a throttle body equates to a change in roughly 80% of its flow (Hence power). When you add up the flow limitations of those small throttle bodys, it is a LOT higher than that of a single large throttle. Hence, TPS is very very sensitive with them, and you do a LOT of work with sensor fusion, and some Maths behind the scenes to make those blends nice, and be smooth.
    • Yep, when Haltech purchased Adaptronic, and all of the Adaptronic staff, including Andy went with it, it took Haltech to the next level. Haltech wanted Adaptronic as they wanted things like Andy's fuel models, and some other IP, AND they wanted Andy too as he is brilliant! Andy has spoken about the incompatibilities between the old 1500 stuff vs Nexxus, and it totally makes sense. It's not JUST software that is different, there is huge changes in the underlying hardware too. It's why Haltech has had soooo many changes in the last couple of years, in terms of Hardware, and Software, and why it has become so damn Amazing. Why do you think guys like Rob Dahm with his quad rotor, went from running Adaptronic's to running Haltechs? Andy. Pretty much, Haltech these days, is Adaptronic, but with more funds behind it, and more staff, and hence Andy's visions, and visions of other people that he helps shape their great visions, into amazing new products. All the new Nexxus gear, whole new software for it, new and better dashboards, the apps that will run on headunits and NOT be slow to respond! I understand people being burnt in the past, but if you're ragging on a company, about products and issues from many years ago, it's more a reflection on yourself, not looking or keeping up with new stuff. In which case, those people should be going back to PowerFC and Nistunes as the ECU's to rave on about...
