hey mate, i plan on doing just what your asking. i have two reasons y i want to do it.... colder air, and i plan on going through the stock air box so mr poo poo thinks i have a stock air box. my nissan patrol (rb30 straight gas turbo) has a pod filter on tthe top of the snorkel and i just oil it with dirt bike filter oil to stop the water getting in. go for it mate, its a great idea! :)

There is however one issue i have read about (stress the "read about"....hence not my experience) on this forum with fitting a pod in direct outside airflow in the front bar.

When driving/cruising or hwy cruising the air is too much for the turbo to ingest, so what happens when air is being forced into the pod and the turbo isn't taking it all in? The air backs up and trys to escape again out past the AFM and pod.......a type of reversion i think it is.

Hence, what I said about fitting the pod up high so its not in direct air flow but behind the bar so cool air still flows around there and to have a shield underneath + mesh up the guard infront of the wheel so it aint as easy for water to fling at it.

Ah yeah. Looks good.

Still not my cup of tea.

As much as it pretty much isolates the pod from the heat, I still think less effort would have achieved a just as effective pod box and CAI intake setup in the engine bay. Not to mention also that the filter will be a lot more accessible for changing and inspection inside the engine bay.

Regardless of what you do, a pod mounted in the front bar will always accumulate more dust and dirt quicker than a pod in the engine bay.

But if it works well for you then stick to what you've got, at least your guarenteed not to get a heat soaked pod.

Thanks for all these pictures guys, My friends thought I was crazy for thinking of putting a pod in that location because not many people do it so there must be a reason for it not to be done. So confused now on if I will move the pod or go the setup Keymaker mentioned.
