Coilovers

Recommended Posts

Hi I have some HKS coilovers and I was noticing a knocking noise from the rear one. So I jacked it up, and the problem side was really damp.. i mean i could push the wheel up and down with no problems. The other side was nice and stiff

So I took the shocker out, and its weak as f**k. I figured It needed to be refilled...

What do I refill it with? I took the little valve cap off, and it just looked like you attatched a bike pump... but I'm not sure

If anyone knows what to do here, help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

some HKS have valves that allow the struts to be re filled with nitrogen I think. Call up HKS Australia and they should be able to give you the exact specs to fill them up to. Try that avenue first, if the struts still arnt feeling 100% then look into a rebuid or maybe buy some newer ones.

The valve on there is for re-gassing (usually with nitrogen), but if you can move the wheel up and down, my bet is that it's lost almost all its shock oil.

Either way, it's not just a loss of gas pressure problem, they will need to be rebuilt or you will need new ones.
