carbon fibre bonnet

coilovers(though needed to be raised but being adjustable is not a problem for regency)

two boot mounted 044 bosch pumps(he stated that the pumps were fine but the original computer and injectors would need to be in place).

I did the research first so that if and when i wanted to change the vic reg over to sa i would only have to go through once. Obviously Luke yours has some slightly different mods in other respects but the carbon bonnet will be fine according to the gentleman that i spoke to at regency.

He actually stated to me that yes the cops may have a problem with some of the mods but they were by no means illegal and would not have a problem passing an inspection.

Well..according to almost everyone thats ever been through, the above is complete bs for when u get a defect. Saying yes it legal, doesnt mean shit, because as soon as u are out on the street, a cop will defect it and then u are back for another inspection.

CF bonnets dont meet ADR's in a crash, adjustable coilovers need to be welded shut to stop adjustment, boot mounted pumps are a big no no as well.

If u question someone else inside who takes the defect off u will get a different answer..better yet - go pull the adr requirements for the items u listed and if they are legal (without an engineers cert -which regency legally dont have to abide to) i will give out a big sorry.

Regency is known for going by strict rules, even against adrs if they dont like it.

Someone saying it should be fine is worth the paper its written on...

mate theres a genuine r33 gtr ali boonet in white on ebay if your interested....

also if you get REALI REALI desperate yell out i may be able to help as long as you dont mind it being midnight purple...

I posted based on my EXPERIENCE, take it or leave i dont care. I have taken two cars through with boot mounted pumps, the only car i was unable to do this with was my lx hatch as the fuel pumps are esentially in the main cabin. My 19's are legal as the gtr came with 17's, as the car comes with a front mount an aftermarket one is not illegal, my filters went through with no problems and two people in this thread including myself have been given the same information regarding carbon fibre bonnets. I have also taken 3 cars through with coilovers as have several family members with no trouble at all. Many people have been unjustly defected based on the officers own personal feelings, this does not make their judgement fact thats why they order you to have your car inspected and dont just impound it instantly. I have been defected several times for things that have been totally legal and had the car passed as the officer inspected it. Strangely enough my most modified car never recieved a defect but was passed as it had to go through for a numbers check and i did my research before i went in.

I am not debating that the cops wont defect you, i am simply stating that they are not always correct in their judgement on vehicle modifications. Just because they defect you does not mean your car wont pass a regency inspection. I have now put 5 cars through regency whether it be for numbers check or defect and always passed, maybe its because i do my research first or maybe they just like me.

P.S. Why are you so aggressive, chill out and take your emo hat off.

<snip>

Ok firstly..

Numbers check. Completly different to a defect notice. The op is going for a numbers check only and you wont get a defect 99% of the time while doing this, and making sure there arnt any obvious defects is the safest thing to cover your own arse in the long run. Which is the point of the OPs asking to borrow parts in the first place...

Now..i replied to your original post based on if he gets defected. I simply suggested he ring them and let him make up his own mind, based on the info regency give him, because then only then will he have someone to blame for mis information, not word of mouth off the interwebs.

Now, for the rest of what u have said...I replied

the above is complete bs for when u get a defect

I never listed wheels, front mount ic, or filters so i dont know why u mentioned them. The bonnets however, in the past few years lots of members here in the past have been defected and told to remove them as they dont meet ADR's as im sure you would know because in an accident they wont perform as the factory intended, and u would possibly void your insurance in a crash. Like i said, if im wrong, show the the laws regarding that they are legal and ill shut my mouth. External pumps in skylines arent allowed in SA, so you got lucky.

Coilovers...well i personally know someone who has been through the process of getting them engineered, and spent a lot of money doing so, only to be told by regency that they are illegal, cert or not. It doesnt matter that you have been through 3 times before or not, because 99% of others here that have and will go through have/will be told the same that they are illegal.

P.S. Why are you so aggressive, chill out and take your emo hat off.

Im not aggressive and dont try to be, but theres so many people on this forum who give mis-information as fact, when it only based on experience, not the damn law.

Emo hat...please. Dont result to try insult if u dont read posts in the first place.

Good morning. As i have already stated, people must do their own research for their own piece of mind. I simply posted my expeience and stated that i did not have a problem getting passed with the mods i listed. As far as i can see, by the wording of your post you are still waring your hat, i dont need to sware to get my point accross unlike yourself. As for digging up ADR's, i dont care as my cars passed the inspections(some defect, some numbers checks the inspectors paid the same amount of attention to my cars and checked for the same things). Lucky or not i just did what regency said to do before the inspections and did not have any problems. I have at no stage tried to tell you are wrong just posted my actual experiences.

Have a nice day. :)

P.S.lets try not to hi-jack this thread any more than we already have, I posted voicing my experience, not to have an argument over the finer details of what you think is "bullshit" about them.

by the wording of your post you are still waring your hat, i dont need to sware to get my point accross unlike yourself.

wtf are talking about? If you cant have a normal conversation without resorting to trying to belittle the other person, then why should people even bother with what advice you have to give?

My original point was for a defect on a car. You have missed this point twice, so ill ive said it for you again. Re read what ive said. If you passed this time, and get sent back next time, just because you got through with the mod doesnt guarantee the next person will, so by you saying someone will get through with a mod "based on your experience" is wasting everyones time as we all know how inconsistent Regency is, which is why if you follow the ADR's then you cant (in 99.9% of cases) be defected for it. Numbers checks dont mean squat for most mods.

I posted voicing my experience

Going through regency 5 times doenst mean anything to anyone else. All it means is that you never learnt how to stay out of the damn place..

Have fun yourself. Im out...

    • It only looks tidy, as most of the stuff that was on the whole back wall, is now in the trailer to go to the tip, or has been shoved in my 2.2x2.4m "Spare parts room", and now I can't get to anything in there Ha ha ha I could definitely do with a bit more space, but I'd just end up with your problems I'm going to enclose the car port beside the garage, and move a lot of stuff into it I think. OR... It will be setup as a fabrication area, and the main garage will have parts storage in it. I'm not sure yet... Need some pictures of that big shed you've got with the bikes and Skyline in
    • No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
    • Can't say I've had a bad experience with one on my car, then again it only gets washed once or twice a year... The wheels on the other hand, get a good spray often due to my shitty dusty pads.
    • @MBS206 thats pretty neat and tidy to me!  I'll get a photo of mine when I'm out there next. It might require multiple photos to understand the scale of the atrocities though... In total I have 4 sheds of varying sizes and layouts. Main shed is 14x8, second shed is 3x8, third shed is 11x2.5, fourth shed is around 6x4.  All are pretty much full.   The main goal of my cleaning tsunami is to make the main shed predominantly car and motorbikes only. Second shed is my metal fab room (2 x bench grinders, drill press, bench belt sander, metal band saw, scrap metal storage and some of my garden tools.  3rd shed is more bigger garden stuff, storage for engine crane, jack stands, concrete grinder, concrete mixer, air compressor lives there, and it now has two 2mx2m pallet racking shelves with itemised boxes holding building stuff, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, etc, etc.  The 4th shed is Ryobi electric ride on mower, mini boom sprayer, ancient Kubota tractor, more garden stuff!  I have got a lot of shit....  Then there's the pool house (8mx4m) and the pool pump shed (4mx4m).  I built all of the sheds over the 11 years we've been here.  The main shed was a Ranbuild kit, the rest are all custom made to fit the areas available. Building the main shed taught me a LOT as I had no idea about building anything prior to that!  I've still got one more in me. It will be my man cave which I poured the extra concrete for way back when I poured the concrete for the main shed. The idea is the Skyline will be a centre piece of the main cave once (if...) it's finished.  I told my now 14 year old son yesterday that I will 100% drive him to his year 10 formal in 2 years. Still a long way off but at least I now have a date to work towards! 🤣
