Install looked tidy. Power number was very good if it was running something like a GT35 (I read 363kW) and should move that lardy Soarer pretty well when the revs are up. If it was one of those T88 units, at that power level it's seriously under employed.

I don't know if it was the scaling of the dyno graph, but it looked to have a fairly late/steep rise in the torque curve which then did not hold for long before it ran out of rpm. I wonder how stock the internals are, and how much $$ was required for the external bolt ons? There should be a reasonable supply of off the shelf speed gear available ex-US.

a t88 on stock internals.... why?

Why not? stock internals are good enough for the power he is making, which is well tried and tested in America with the 1uzfe. I assume, the owner has future plans for the car, hence the t88 now - Thus save on changing it over when a motor is "built" later on.

yeah... i kinda didn't really think of that

Toyota aren't the only Japanese manufacturer of a well engineered V8.

Soarer reminds me of an old Jag - big on the outside, small on the inside. Goes well in a gentlemen's express kind of way. Not for me, but good to see someone having a play with them.

JAgs.... dont get me started  damn multicam corroded mofo's :D

GK on that thing should be good for over 1000hp easy, we supplied a GK on a std (std cams and int) 2jz (595FWKW) and it was safe as houses, ps we did it as per customers wish not cause it was a good setup :D car now has full top end build and is pushing another 200-odd more.

GK FTW :(

Check the link for some good detailed pics of a VH41/45 bottom end.

Other than for the John Holmes award (Longest Schlong) I don't see the point of fitting them up with those massive snails. With the capacity advantage in either the 1UZ or VH45 - and some intelligent turbo matching - they would pull like a locomotive. Awesome road car. A bit like the kit that's available for the Gen 3 Commode.

I'm not sure why you think that sort of power is low. The stock cams in a 1uz are only about 220deg and 7.7mm of lift.

the stock rev limiter is 6500rpm.

The set has been built to max out the GK with a built motor. The 1uz don't have super strong rods like a 2jz, so you can't get thenm too much power.

As for tlag once you take your foot off the clutch the boost starts climbing. no lag as such.

Nobody said it's low. 360 odd rwkW is plenty.

It was more the case that the turbo's potential is not really being tapped. Fair enough for a built engine to come into the equation later on.
