Engine Damper

hey guys, ive been reading some stuff up on about engine dampers and im wondering is it worth getting one for a NA r33?

i have had them in a s13, a mates r33/ 34, and my r33. it looks good and stops all twist..

but i wouldnt go so far as to say it gives u more power/torque.

edit= its definitely worth it. im saying this because it stops the twist. this has to be very helpful to the engine mounts.

dont do SFA, some have said they noticed a sliiigghhttt better response, but they probably had dodgy mounts

waste of money, but they do look cool - but then ontop of that they can make your car vibrate

agree with both of Skit's points.

engine vibration is obviously transferred through the damper and you are better off changing your engine mounts before buying a damper

my mate had one on his 180sx and didn't notice any difference. in fact it was a pain, because it meant the strut mount studs weren't long enough to have a strut brace and engine damper

plus on r33, not sure about r32's. u have to remove the stock bolt mount (the little bit of steel sticking up with 2 bolt holes in it), near the plenum. and its a pain in the arse. took me 1hr.

My R33 came with one (hehe) so i can't tell how effective it is...but i know it's probably extended the life of my engine mounts and also firms up the engine when i'm turning hard. It helps balance out (only slightly) the engine and nose-end handling.

They're not that expensive and look good.

guys, i bought one awhile ago but yet to install it. the damper doesnt seem to compress at all. did i got myself a faulty one or is this normal?

na thats right giveitall.

its supposed to be stiff as hell, almost as if it doesnt even move.
