Any Ideas On Stopping A Sub Box From Moving.

Hey Audiogods!!!

Ive got a enclosure for two mtx 10 inch subs which pumps heaps for such small speakers. Anyways.... I had them in a lancer previously and they use to move around heaps like going over speed humps and corners. Any ideas how to securing it in the boot??

im no audio god but done this in my previous 2 cars and it worked wonders even in the wagon. put 2 screws in the box and occy strap it in.... with the gtr i hooked the occy strap to rear strut brace in the wagon hoocked it to back of rear seat. simple but effective: done hills runs in the gtr lotsa corner go heavy breaking/accelerating and its never budged

I first stapled and glued the carpet in the boot to the wooden panel that covers the spare tire. This was modified a little to make it so that it doesnt move around itself. Then, I stuck (and stapled) a few pieces of the 'hook' side velcro onto the bottom of the sub. I just plonked the sub where I wanted it... and no movement! Velcro is incredibly strong sideways, so the weight of the sub box itself basically stops it moving. If I want to remove it (i.e. need the boot space), i just unplug the cable (I put a socket in the boot lining), and lift straight out!

Works perfectly... I occasionally throw the car around a little and it's never moved or come off.

What you could do (also what i did) is attach right angle brackets to your sub box, screw them in, then drill a hole in the floor of your boot (make sure it fits the screw) and screw it in, the right angle bracket will probably bend enough to counter any uneven surfaces, do this on each corner of the sub box and it's not going anywhere! I did the same thing, except i bolted the subwoofer enclosures (i have 2) into the rear parcel shelf. You can store stuff under the subwoofers! A couple of books probably, there 15'' so you don't have a lot of room lol. This is harder to do though as it could be completely impossible depending on the car.
