Tired Of Hearing About The Weight.

Recommended Posts

hahah not for you mate  but we have done everything we can to take weight out of it, our budget doesnt stretch to carbon fibre so its running a fair bit of ally instead. I think you said you were building the 34 to sports sedan regs as well? so you know we have to retain factory floor pan.

yes best we could do was 1380, depending on fuel load, ( i needed to spend more money!) and that was enough

car came back from japan yesterday! ( thank god, fair bit of stress waiting for it)

cheers russ

need to send those bloody videos to you too

this isnt going to be popular but even the 32+ R's feel heavy to me around a corner... and yes once those tyres get really warm they do slide a bit easier.... the r's do seem to do it a bit quicker ... admitedly shithouse "sport" tyres ala kuhmo's dirty quantity evaluation.... but a benchmark none the less

spot on roy. the group A cars were heavier than my production race car (1530kg) so thats no excuse. And its also not true that gtrs get slower every lap, plenty of race times on natsoft.com.au including my races show otherwise.

i would be very interested to see how much weight the vspec can strip out.... I haven't seen 32-34 standard vs vspec or n1 but I bet the difference was less than 100kg, nothing like 200-300 kg different.

we have just stripped a shell really brtually for a new sports sedan, I will post up its weight once finished, but we are hoping for about 1250 - 300 kg less than stock

Improved Production R32GTR = 1280 kgs. All you need is money :)

Improved Production R32GTST (with RB30DET) target = 1130 kgs. All you need is time and a little bit of money :)

Cheers

Gary

I know of a guy in tassie who removed 200kg worth of unneccecary nuts and bolts from an s14. Weight reduction is easy!

Not possible, there is nowhere near 50kg of nuts and bolts in the whole car.

lol. 200kg in bolts. I could take 200kg of bolts off my GTR but then I'd just be left with a partially assembled GTR and no way of ever putting it back together. and as Adriano suggested it's pretty unlikely even if you took every bolt out of the whole thing and held the car together with chewie and cable ties that you'd have 200kg in nuts and bolts.

I cant prove it and no doubt its an exaduration but im pretty sure it was only bolts he removed.

Cable ties were used.

I disagree, nuts and bolts weigh alot.

I wasn going to say anything, but I've built a few cars in my time. If you took every nut bolts including the ones that is on the rods, head, crown pinion, harmonic balancer, clutch, flywheel and even wheel studs, you be lucky to get anywhere near 100kgs, and then you have to ask yourself the question would zip ties hold these "apparently" non essential bits together, as you just removed the primary method of attaching or fastening these items.
