Ok guys, ill get straight to the point

Im very keen (and i know there are others aswel) at doing a track day at phillip island. Now the calander for the year is looking pretty good. I want to go down a few times this year, and the first trip will be in april, reason is there's 2 opportunities to do PI in april!

I had planned to include Winton in the first trip but they wont allow us on the 11th. They will allow us on the 25th though

Each option has advantages over the other, mainly being option 1 is cheaper and easier on the cars, but option 2 has more track time and includes winton instead of DECA

Option one: PI and DECA

Friday the 11th april; Meet at the usual spot and cruise down to shepparton, get drunk

Sat the 12th april; compete at DECA (wrx club version, not SAU), then drive to PI (its like driving from syd to wakie), dinner, get drunk

Sun the 13th April; PI open day

Mon the 14th April; leave and drive home

option two; Winton and PI

Thursday 24th April; Meet at the spot and drive to Winton, get drunk, sleep

Friday 25th April; Winton open day, afterwards drive to PI

Saturday 26th April; PI day one (open practice)

Sunday 27th April; PI day 2 (sprints)

Monday 28th april; drive home

Now there is one further option, meet friday the 12th at the spot, drive down, saturday DECA, sunday come home, but as we've done that a few times i think it would be nice to have the extra thing to add to that trip

For those of you who know the sauvic guys they will most likely be at the track with us if we do option 2 (as they're all track whores)

On the last deca trip a few people (who will remain nameless) made the trip "not as good as it could be" for others, so a friendly and positive attitude is a must

So please have your say, then ill make the arrangements so it can happen :)

Steve,

Option 2 would be in the Anzac weekend so being a long weekend the freeways etc might get a bit busy?

I am keen as, however April is a busy month for me with work.

Guys - for those who havent done a road trip for a motorsport event, I say you gotta do it!!!

the Vic guys are really friendly and it is a nice cruise drive down.

How about option 3?

Skyline Nationals July 26-27?

Friday Night Welcome Dinner - Venue yet to be confirmed.

Saturday Morning Registration - Function Room, Sundowner Park Lake Motel. Start 8.00 Am, Finish 10.30am.

After Registration head accross the road to show and shine and the Victoria Park Lake. Pricing same as last year. $5.00 to Park, $20.00 to Park and Judge. Lions club will be there again, and so will the merchandise stand. We need 6 people to help with registrations and organising cars for the show and shine. Cars must be parked by 11am. This event will go until 4pm.

Saturday night is your to do what you want, same as last year (ie Drunk as skunks!)

Sunday.

Winton Sprints and regularity events. Will be checking whether we can have drift. but this IS NOT likely. We will be hiring Flaggies and Marshalls, so your input is limited. Lions club will be there with the hot food again, as well as the merchandise tent.

This event is going to be very expensive to run. You will require either a CAMS L2 or a AASA Licence to compete at Winton. AASA Licences will be available on the day for weekend pass pricing - $20

To get this event paid for, we are looking for some early bird payments.

To compete at Winton:

Payment by the 31st January 2008, $135.00

Payment by the 31st March 2008, $150.00

Payment by the 15th July 2008, $165.00

Payment on the day $190.00.

There will only be 60 spots for this event. All model Nissans/Datsuns are welcome on the Winton Track day.

Sunday Night - Presentation Dinner - Venue yet to be confirmed. Expect Pricing around $50.00 per head plus drinks.

Monday Morning - Farewell Breakfast. Pricing yet to be confirmed, expect around $15.00 per head.

Anzac weekend :P

i gotta parade through the city ....

damn id love to come!

Stevo, you know i'm keen for timing a DECA in one of my trips back over, unfortunately April will prob be too early for my first trip, any ideas on when the next one is? Augustish?? I'd definately be in on something then...

DECA is an event in Sheperton in VIC.

SAUVIC hold it 4 times a year (I've won it twice for the NSW team!)

Its a motokhana/autocross style event and is cheap motorsport.

Besides your car....

tyres if you have dedicated tyres for competing

tools

money

beer

etc

Id really love to do DECA again, I just cannot get time off - I do though, reccomend it to ANYONE here.

Not 4 times anymore, more like 2 per year

mind you though if you win it for NSW twice in a row, you are the champion of the universe!!

(like me!!!)

Honestly - it is a long weekend with all the driving....but what you get upto and the racing etc - it is awesome!!!

The SAUVIC guys treat you like family!!! I just wish I could get the time off :D

What would the overall price for option one be? (Ballpark figure)...

Roughly for the first option;

Petrol for the way down $80

DECA entry $75, petrol usage $20

Accomodation is under $30 each night

PI $200ish

Petrol for the trip back $80

Plus whatever food and drink you want

I'm guessing that that is Victoria Park Melbourne???

Steve,

My car is quite efficient and is around 10l per 100!

when giving it a bootfull - anyone goes through fuel!! :(

4 tanks was an exageration! but yeah, thats the most of the money!

    • Let's hope that's not a copy pump either. There were so many copies of them back in the day.
    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
