TURISMO
Id be more keen on the Deca option as I don't think 2 track days in a row are going to take kindly to my car, or anyones car. Especially when we are in Mexico, Can you get parts down there? Just a Thought Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/203888-2-x-road-trip-opportunities/page/2/#findComment-3631173 Share on other sites

weeman1
id like to come, but a few q's first, do i need to be a registered member with saunsw to run in deca? and to drive on winton/philip island do i need a cams licence? or is it like wakefield where you buy a day/year licence? ill vote once the above is answered cheers mitch Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/203888-2-x-road-trip-opportunities/page/2/#findComment-3631883 Share on other sites
N1GTR
Id be more keen on the Deca option as I don't think 2 track days in a row are going to take kindly to my car, or anyones car. Especially when we are in Mexico, Can you get parts down there?Just a Thought Yeah thats why i made it a vote dude But i know what you mean, and i agree, im happy to drive it till it breaks but others probably arent. As far as parts, you get the exact service as you would by living in Sydney or ACT (eg, pay for it and get it sent by overnight courier), so if you think you may need a new CV joint in the next month, do it now etc, or bring your starlet, its a sucker for punishment 14 votes, 5 one way 6 the other... huh!! That doesn't add up to 14 I s'pose some just clicked 'show me the money' Yep, thats how that happens. Looks like it will be a close call id like to come, but a few q's first, do i need to be a registered member with saunsw to run in deca? and to drive on winton/philip island do i need a cams licence? or is it like wakefield where you buy a day/year licence?ill vote once the above is answered cheers mitch For DECA you need to have a licence, CAMS L2S or AASA will do When i did winton it was AASA, and i think PI is either BUT ive sent a PM to one of the very helpful Victorians so i guess ill have confirmation soon Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/203888-2-x-road-trip-opportunities/page/2/#findComment-3632264 Share on other sites

N1GTR
thanx mate, btw whats aasa? and i have to join a car club to get a cams licence hey? AASA is like CAMS, they offer licences for drivers and insurance to event holders (among other things) Yep, join SAUNSW then you can get the L2S Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/203888-2-x-road-trip-opportunities/page/2/#findComment-3632340 Share on other sites

Bec
OK.... CAMS - Confederation of Australian MotorSport - http://www.cams.com.au/ (you need to be a financial member of a CAMS affiliated club to get a CAMS license). AASA - Australian AutoSport Alliance - http://australianautosportalliance.com/aasa/ If a day is run under CAMS insurance - you will need a CAMS license. If a day is run under AASA insurance - you can use either a CAMS or AASA license. Phillip Island - will ALWAYS be run with CAMS insurance, so you will 100% need a CAMS license to compete in any track day at Phillip Island. Winton - it depends on the club running the day and whether they take out CAMS or AASA Insurance, most of the time people who run days at Winton use AASA (coz its cheaper), but its not always guarenteed. Steve, you'll need to check the supp regs for the day you want to enter to check if AASA is acceptable or not. DECA - the same as for Winton. When SAU Vic run a DECA day we use AASA as our insurance provider. But as this day isnt one of ours, im not 100% sure which insurance the WRX Club will use. You should check with their motorsport committee. My suggestion - if you guys are going to be doing a day at PI, you will need CAMS anyways, so you may as well just get that. Id be more keen on the Deca option as I don't think 2 track days in a row are going to take kindly to my car, or anyones car. Especially when we are in Mexico, Can you get parts down there?Just a Thought 2 years in a row now we have bought 10 plus track cars (also to note there were some of the quickest track cars in Melb) up to Sydney over Melbourne Cup Week, doing track days at Wakefield and Eastern Creek both times. All cars have driven home both times without any issues. Mexico is civilised - of course you can get parts. You think we get all ours shipped down from Sydney Steve-O - if you need help getting any of the above info, just holler Bec Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/203888-2-x-road-trip-opportunities/page/2/#findComment-3632392 Share on other sites
