'Rice' to me is pretty much and anything that makes your car look better without giving any performance. So a huge bodykit on a car that never reaches 150kmh+ is useless, so rice. Stickers to show off your shopping list (I think it's to make people think that you've got the parts), but rice.

So pretty much any bullshit add ons that doesn't help your performance in any way.

rice(rīs)

n.

  1. A cereal grass (Oryza sativa) that is cultivated extensively in warm climates for its edible grain.
  2. The starchy grain of this plant, used as a staple food throughout the world.

or this??

1.ricer

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder

- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747

- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool

- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself

- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire

- Clear tail lights and corner signals

- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)

- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.

Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

I saw this Acronym once and I reckon it pretty much sums it up.

Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements

Alot of people call anything Japanese rice esp the V8 fan boys which I think is incorrect.

That's actually pretty good. Haven't heard of that one before.

I think most people think 'rice' as in it's known as an Asian food, Jap's are Asians...

LOL thats a good one.

To me RICE = placing objects on the car which serve no purpose.

Basicaly just for looks. BTW I have see a few Ford XR8 with this ugly black air scoop on the bonnet. I'm sure its fake but if anyone knows let me know cuz it looks rice.

Guess you can say we calling someone with a VE Clubsport R8 / GTS a cashed up bogan. :D

lol that's assuming the changes are actually "enhancements"

The epitomy of rice to me is a GT wing on a civic or commodore,

wankers who put chevvy badges on their commos

GTS owners who put GTR bages on their lines

honda owners who put red H badges on their garden variety civic or integra

Chromies

Little <2.0L buzzboxes with bodykits and wheels with a milo tin hanging off the rear bar sounding like a wet fart down the street as their auto box shifts from 2nd to 3rd

need I continue?

As my understanding has it, the term rice was originally used as the term "rice burner" referring to Japanese cars, this in turn led to "rice" or "riced up" cars referring to japanese car owners who added bodykits exhausts, big wings and decals on their cars ala fast and furious style

anyone have a different opinion?

Yep, 100% agree with that. It's just now that 'rice' refers to kitted lancer's, etc. We've gotten used to having heaps of Jap cars everywhere.

Let me make it simple for you...

RICE refers to ASIANS as ASIANS eat rice pretty much all the time just like the bloody Indians appreciate their Curry (and there's nothing wrong with these normalities)...

Now, most ASians drive hotted up Sports cars.... most are ALL SHOW and no farken GO... some examples, you say? OK, a lancer with an loud farty exhaust, big rims and a full bodykit... it's still a 1.8 litre granny car... or, a CIVIC... I farken hate CIVICS, especially the hatchback ones... the same, exhaust, stickers, lights, fake recaro seats etc and they think they own the god damn world... big wings, little gadgets inside that do absolutely nothing but looks racey.... that's RICE.

Enough said... I'm going to have some rice now.... yumm.....
