Hi,

***EDIT***

I have noticed a leak from my power steering rack from the top of the pinion housing. I have looked in a workshop manual for Aussie 31, and it seems that there is a cover, then a seal - I assume mine is rooted. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? Does anyone know if the steering shaft comes away easily from the pinion housing?

Thanks,

Old topic -

I can't stop a power steering leak on my R32 GTS4. The leak is coming from the banjo fitting on the steering rack that connects all the way back up to the resevoir. I have tried to replace the washers that came out of there (there was one each side of the fitting), however this has proven difficult.

he washers that came out were brass with a slim rubber ring on the inside of each. They looked abit average as the rubber ring was not even the whole way around.

I went to Pirtek to get some new ones, however the outside diameter of the washer was a bit larger meaning that the washer doesn't sit flush (the easher actually sits in a slight groove on the steering rack).

I the got some new washers from Nissan which were the correct size, but did not have the rubber ring on the inside.

Anyone had exprience with this? What was the result?

I haven't looked at a gts4 but the gtr washers are just straight copper washers no rubber seal. the copper itself is soft and forms the seal as long as it is clean. Are you sure the original had rubber seals?

I took another look at it and found that it is not leaking from the washers, it is leaking from the top of the pinion housing where the steering staft joins the rack. Are there any threads around that go through the repair of this?
