R33 GTST, stock exhaust, Blitz Air pod.

in City

1) when the my car just arrive here, 300km per 50L.

2) Reset ECU, 350 per 50L (10.5:1 test on dyno)

3) Power FC, 420~450 per 50L (12.5:1 test on dyno),

highway

Power FC, 550~600 per 50L (12.5:1 test on dyno), however depands on how you accel...

notice accel much smooth and rev easy to pick up, therefore no need to accel hard..boost slight come in early, no over fuel less pop

also after dyno tune second day went to wakefild park, the engine is totally different, very resopsive compare to stock ecu.

most important is no fuel cut and speed limit cut..

however as I said, it depands on how you accel..

from what i can gather from all the feedback, a stock skyline will average about 330-350km city driving and 410-450km highway driving...

skyzerr33: who tuned your SAFC? what a/f ratio are you running now? was it 10.5:1 stock? can you tune half throttle or less with the SAFC? some of you SAFC guys have some really good results and im really keen to hear how you did it....

with both the SAFC and PowerFC, can you adjust a/f ratio's when the ECU is in "closed loop" mode or less than half throttle? from my understanding the PowerFC is just a factory ECU that is tunable and when in closed loop mode is not tunable. Is this correct?

Forget expensive computers for now - you'd be amazed by how much difference a proper oil change can make. My car was using close to 16L/100kms when I first got it from the dealer, but after doing my first service and using 40W Penzoil synthetic, it improved to 13L/100kms.

If you expect good fuel economy, the I feel there are realy two main factors.

How and where you drive, and the mechanical condition and tune of the engine.

If the compression is as new, the oxygen sensor working, and you drive sensibly then the economy should be reasonable. If the engine is stuffed and you thrash it, well...................

as sidewaymambo said its how you accellerate. do it smoothly and no violently and you'll get better figures

plus 90% of my driving is on the highway cruising at 100kph. on my car thats about 2600rpm. i get these figures all the time. yes they go down when i give the car a burst or 5 during the week. but then it only drops to 550 per tank.

WA has better fuel as well its refined different as we have harsher fuel laws. Our petrol burns cleaner therefore giving more power and economy since the fuel is working more efficently in the engine.

i think ice180 meant you drove like miss daisy around town. your performance on the strip is irrelevant to the way you drive around town - or is it?

your amazing fuel consumption, i think, is from a combination of SAFC (and obviously who tuned it), the fact you do mostly hwy driving and somewhat more cleaner fuels...

i still want to know what a/f ratio your running and who tuned it!!!

if i disconnect the battery for all of tonite, will this reset the ecu? can it do any other harm? this is how i used to reset the WRX...

I'm in the 450-500 per tank bracket too. I have a long drive to work which is mainly 80 and 100 zones, which definitely helps.

I'm getting my SAFC tuned soon, which should hopefully improve things even more.

When I was at the CAMS license day I was getting 300km to a tank.

I do 2500+kms a month in my R33, it's a work car.

Almost all of that is city driving. I accellerate quickly to the speed limit and cruise.

My fuel consumtion is 10L/100kms or slightly lower, 9something on the longer open road runs. I know this is fairly accurate as I log book and claim every single Km for tax reasons, have done this over more than 2 years.

A study conducted some time ago (VW did it I think) found that brisk accelleration used less fuel than a slow accelleration to the same speed (not the reason I do it I can assure you :D )

I don't drive like nanna, I only have two points left to show that!

You will get poor fuel ecconomy if you use 5th gear at speeds slower than 90km/h, I know some people who use it at 50/60kmh!

As mentioned before, the state of your cars tune will greatly impact on fuel ecconomy, as will general maintenence like tyre pressure and the one nobody remembers ----- change your frigin gearbox and diff oil regularly !

To be honest I dont know how I do it, just try and stay off boost as much as you can, at 110kph in 5th if you try and keep the boost around the -300mmHg on the factory gauge you do even better. Thats pretty hard to do though.

Not running more boost than factory, having new spark plugs and keeping the car in good service might have something to do with it.

But I agree when you fang it the fuel consumption goes through the roof.
