Hey guys and gals, I know there is software out there where you are able to fully program your ecu via a laptop. Does anyone know where to get it or whats it called so i can find it online ??? or does it come with the fully programmable computers that are worth like $3000 + ??? Any help would be nice cheers : :(

You can purchase all the required gear for ~ a few hundred but then you need dyno time and some one willing to let you do the tuning. Its not feasible unless your trusted and good mates with a dyno owner.

I guess you could grab a wide band and make up a pair of det cans but road tuning is the good ol Aussy word 'dodgy'. :)

Or better still give Pete Liebig a call and tell him Andrew Nuske with the black R34 sent you. I don't have his number, but here is his email:

He and his team have been cracking all the Nissan ECUs for reprogramming - I am not 100% sure what they have or haven't perfected, but give him a try. They have nearly cracked R34 ECUs so I am going to be their tune guinea pig - Pete tells me the stock ECU when cracked and modified offers an even greater range and ability of tuning than a PowerFC! They have developed laptop based tuning software too - maybe they sell licences for it. But they have a workshop and dyno for tuning anyhow. I bought my Datascan licence off them - that is the best Consult software to use for monitoring things.

nope you can't reprogram your stock ECU yourself - I believe Jeff from the SpeedLab can though.

PowerFC software costs $10,000+ I believe.

wow that price is unbelievable - I wonder if it is legit/legal? Methinks not. But either way - even if you bought it you have to get dyno time etc etc - worth it for a few guys to buy and pool resources maybe

Yeah I was thinking the same sort of numbers that you were. Apparently this is legit software as Access Autoworks are the Aussie agent for Apexi.

My mate bought this software and could not get a CD but instead had to download it.

He was then issued a number that could ony be used once to register.

He went through a lot of hassle just to get another number so he could have it on his laptop and desktop.

There has to be a few genius IT guys out there that could get past this hassle then we could all pitch in and order a copy.

I would love 1 day to be able to muck around and tune my own car (to a certain level) ! Might give it a go with the 31 eventually :D

yep Pete Liebig that I mentioned above owns/runs/does the Nistune ECUs and software. I didn't know he has a website. He is currently working on more Skyline models, but the R33 has an unusual chip that they have had a lot of trouble cracking - same too with the S15 and R34s. They are hoping to have a solution soon, and I will be their guinea pig :(

So im assuming they are based in adelaide ?

Be interesting to see how the tune goes with your car ! Please keep us up to date.

Read a little bit about NISTUNE in the Forced Induction section and its getting some very positive feedback. I might be keen on getting them to help me out with an RB26 ecu and maybe give me some hints as to how to tune/use the program (if they are in Adelaide that is.) :)

Not sure on the timeframe (will be months, not weeks), but will let you know how it goes.
