Did you bed it in properly?

Try Pete at AFAS on 9723 5955, they are KAAZ dealers.

It was installed by a mechanic, along with new timign belt and stuff. So im not sure if the figure 8s etc were done. I assume they were as the mechanic knows more then me and its on the install instructions. I have done about 8,000kms on it, a few track days and motorkhanas, and changed the fluid at about 2,000kms.

I will give Pete a call on Monday. Thanks

Troy i have the KAAZ in mine. The mechanic (who ever they may) most probably would not have done the fig 8's. It's easy to do, but you need to have some open space, and 20min. Not sure if it's too late to do now, but it wont hurt.

Also what oil are you using? I have changed the oil in my diff twice now (since the KAAZ install) and each time it has gotten better. The next and final oil change, i'll be using Castrol oil, need to speak to Pete (Bass Junky) to see what type. Even with the current oil i don't feel mine as being that bad.

I havnt got mine back from having it installed...see if I have simiraly issues this week. Although my guys were pretty clued in to giving me the right setup. I bought mine 8 months ago but if I had my time over I would have got a NISMO 1.5way which you can more easily adjust pre-load etc.

let us know how u go, I'II give my feedback on my setup next week.

Check your tyres carefully - us drifters constantly have problems with shit tyres and mechanical diffs - best thing is to find another good pair of wheels, put em on the back and go for a drive - even if your existing tyres look PERFECT.

If not brisby - throw it out and weld the stock one :)

I have since run the run in procedure myself, but it is probably a matter of too little too late. Also i doubt its the diff itself or the install. Most likeyl just the fact that everything in my driveline is shagged. So need to give it to a driveline specialist to get it all tidied up and dirivn without all the clacking, backlash...its horrible :)

And Al, this is th eonly fluid i have used in my diff for years... http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_inter...rans_B13127.pdf

I now find myself using Castrol engine oil, brake fluid, gearbox oil and diff oil ;) Its flat out the best in my eyes

Syntrans is GL4 rated and good gear oil. go a GL5 Synstrx if your serious IMO but they are both good gear oils.

You should try Castrol SAF-XA http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_inter...XA_B1769_04.doc.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but i've heard good things about it.

Brisby, try Matt @ Total Traction in Moorabbin, he installed acsplits KAAZ and yes it has been mickey mouse. The only issue I am aware of that he had related to the actual diff housing with fluid leak from a seal. He did a really good run in on the diff, way more than 20 minutes from what I gather and it has been perfect. Likewise, cazz from R31 clubs diff has had the noises, but never got a massive run in. Speak to Matt and see what he says, he is generally very cluey and may have some suggestions for you aswell as any other shop that deals with KAAZ diffs.

thats a good GL5 rated gear oil. Their add. package is good for lsd's not too slipperly.

Chris until you bed it in properly, change the oil every 1000km for the first two oil changes, the diff will be very clunky, especially for the first 1000km.

my diff has been in for about 1 week. They did some figure 8s and i did some also...then took it to sanddown for a few laps. Only done about 400km but already its feeling pretty good.

Take it to Le Mans Automotive in Templestowe. Shanes my mechanic there and he owns the place, he rebuilt my diff and its friggin sweet!

Get him to check it out and he will figure out whats wrong with it.

Hey troy,

I've got the same diff as you in my 32 and its a clunky backlashy POS...I've changed the oil twice with Castrol SAF-XA and its gotten considerably better...but it doesn't last long...after a few weeks the clunkyness gets worse again...the most recent oil change i've changed i went to Penrite Limslip and it was noticeably quieter than with the SAF-Xa...Try giving that stuff a go...
