Replace Handbrakes?

hiiii yall' . lol

I'm looking to replace my handbrake on my skyline. And was wondering it is a hard job? Do I have to take it to a mechanic or can I do it myself and HOW? ..

I'm confused, I look at the damn thing and dnt see how it can come off. hehe

Do you mean replace the handle?

Or is it not holding the car still? (like you pull it up heaps but the car still rolls)

yupyup... replacing the handle! with another handbrake. Nothing wrong with it, I just want a different one. =]

your gonna have to cut off the rubber and hope the new bit will slide right in

any stuff ups at ur own risk

To remove/ replace it you need to:

Remove the centre concole.

Loosen the adjuster/tensioner nut under the lever.

Unbolt the handbrake (don't forget the two rearmost bolts under the bit of carpet)

Get under the car & find the two cables that are between the handbrake & the mechanism at the back.

Unhitch them (the rear point)

Then unhitch them at the front (this is above the drive shaft & a fk to get to)

Pull the handbrake out (carefully).

Then put it back in the reverse order.

Tips:

Check the adjustment before you put the console back.

Don't work under the car unless it is properly secured.

Get someone else to do it, it is a %&*^ of a job.
