Hey guys

just wondering if anyone went to the A1 GP on the weekend. I was working there building a stage for the entertainment act that got cancled so we didnt have to do anything :D we just got to walk around in restricted areas and get real close to the races. Got to also have a good close look at all the old and new school Ferrari's that did the lap around the creek.

just wanted to see if anyone went as well and what did you think of it all ?

yeh i went, saturday and sunday. saturday was good as it didn't rain while i was there. didn't think they were very exciting, would rather watch the v8's or something. the rain on sunday made the racing heaps more exciting, i was sitting on turn 11 & 12 most of the day, was good watching them come round there, most of the were getting sideways, was good to watch

me and a mate had a pit pass, felt so out of place walking around there lol, we checked out all the gt cars, and the old formula 2's i think they were, not sure

what did you think of the a1 cars? they weren't very fast hey

well someone went. pretty sure I saw at least 2 dozen spectators when I watched some of it on TV... lol.

This is true i saw many spectators untill the rain then i saw alot of wet people  . but hey i must admit it would have sucked to actually be a spectator cos all the models were in the green room, which is where my staff and i were :D keeping dry and watching the races from just above the pits. The Best thing is we already have confirmation for next time they want to use us again.

Oh and i just got an email from my client ( who organises stage and sound and all models and acts ) saying,

Wow

What a day

f**king weather

But thanks for your support- I will use you again in the future

PS - there is a models g string missing - any chance one of your boys took

it? - its pink, lacy and little?

James

to be honest we all reckon it was probably james himself.

Yea turn 12 wasnt to far away from me could u see the old ferraris all lined up then a massive white truck near them cos thats where i was, untill heavy rain then i moved to the green room. Yea i must admit they werent really that fast but hey when it got down to the race with the lambo, lotus, ferrari , DB9 and the 2 porsche's i must admit that was a bit more interesting. :D the lotus was trying to hook some drifts and lost it big time, i think it spun out 3 or 4 times in that race.

lol, what was she doing with the g-string off? :D

nah didn't see the white truck, i saw all the old ferraris, i saw a gold one in the pits but i dont remember seeing it on the track, was an awsome looking car. yeh the Gt cars (ferrari's, lambo's and that) were heaps better to watch, some of those ferrari's are so loud. one of them kept drifting the last corner going onto the straight, was good to watch, must have been sitting in the wrong spot to see the lotus trying to drift, me and mate had free tickets and pit passes, so that made it worthwhile going down lol

Don't know why but I don't follow the A1GP Championship, probably because the drivers are all unknown to me however the racing on the sunday was absolutely fantastic (better than many F1 races).

That Canadian driver can really steer in the wet, see him take the outside of turn 1 in the wet he forgot where the brake pedal was.

hahaha good question about why the g-string that i have no idea, propably didnt match the shoes? lol :D yea i got one of our staff members who saw us but wasnt working in to the pit side and he was loving it.

I have never been to the A1 before so it was a differnet experience, but i had an awesome time watching it. Yea some of them were insain drivers and i think most had a bit of fun in the rain.

No I didn't go, you never called me...

I watched some of it on TV though...

Yea well if i made u come you would have got the shits cos i would have made you work, and i so dont think you would have liked to mover over 70 (8 by 4 foot) wood planks into a set position and then gaff tape it all in under 4 minutes with only 8 guys lol. i was kinda worried we wouldnt be able to do it, and in the end we didnt have to do it anyway. But i think we got the gig next time with the same style set-up :mage: fun fun fun cos i love doing the gigs with the MODELS :(

I was there with mate of mine only after we were done at the go kart track (his son races in the midget class)

His mate gave us free pit passes with Netherlands team. It was good shame about the rain.

You got the love the rich boys toys GT cars love the DB9.

We even had a car pass and we parked the "Tune express" van amongst the Ferraris. Great day :(

Agreed I love the DB9 its such a nice looking car, but i must admit that coopers ferrari sounded alot more agressive compaired to the DB9 i was kinda let down by it i was expecting a real vicious grown from it but hey looked awesome, and raced preaty well seeing out of all the cars it was the closest to a boat :)

    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
    • Something coarse-ish. 180 is good.
    • I was surprised to see all the quick Jack models at the same prices on there. But yeah, grabbing one at 20% off would be great.
