ive often wondered. what does it look like when u get that rubbery coating off and are just left with the black plastic thats under it? does it look decent, or pretty bad?

all i can say is good luck!!! i used acetone and thinners (made it look VERY VERY BAD) however didnt damage the plastic just disolved the silicone. It was painted in automotive 2pac primer sanded till inperfections and then painted with a STAR gravity gun with a 1.4mm tip. (Blacks a bitch to spray though) shows EVERY imperfection. It took ages to prep the panels properly and get them all nice and smooth sanded and looking good though. I actually used a paintbrush to paint thinners onto the plastic. as it evaporated it kind of lifted the silicone and allowed it to be wiped off with a rag soaked in thinners. (I think car primer out of a pressure pack and one of those custom tinted spray cans from autobarn would also look fine though!) they atomise quite well. could imagine doing this for around $40? need 400 and 800 sand paper, 500ml/1L thinners, Primer and Paint.
