G'day lads,

My alternator is squeaking and i've been expecting it to go for a couple months now. Squeaking was intermittent but doesn't go away now.

What's the better choice:

Remove and take in for a reco?

OR

Remove and replace with a new one?

Also the old belt, should i replace it or not important?

I'm in Sydney if anyone can recommend an auto electrician.

Cheers :(

It's always cheaper to get it reco'd but finding a decent place is always the problem. When done properly works as good as a new one. With ur belt check if it's got cracks, easier to look at the ribbed side, worn/feathered bits along the side or faces of the belts, replace. From brisbane so couldn't tell you a decent auto elec.

Thanks for the advice. Yeh reco sounds good then. I'll just source another belt i think, don't know how old/worn the current one is.

Anyone from Sydney know a good auto-electrician?
