Sorry if this isn the correct section; wasnt sure where else it would go...

Anyways,

This problem has got me stumped as there doesnt seem to be anything consistent which would provide me with a lead other than it happens during relatively warm/hot days....

Sometimes, whilst driving under normal conditions i'll watch the temp on my pfc slowly creeping up and up getting to above 100degrees! Went to 106 and pulled over ready to switch it off and noticed it slowly come down again! I've already flushed it before, and the pump was done just before i got the car.

Im guessing it could be the clutch fan not locking up properly coz when i turn off the car to go check it (at about 90degrees) the fan seems to spin relatively freely. .....Maybe its locking up sometimes and maybe not ya rekon????? If it is the fan, can they be reconditioned? ..or where can i get a new one?

The other possibily is a sticking thermostat which i very much doubt otherwise the temp wouldnt creep up -it would shoot up.

Again, this doesnt seem to happen all the time; its irregular. Running the a/c doesnt seem to make much difference either....

i take it by what you mean about clutch fan its our viscous fan the viscous fan does not have any effect after about 30mph so ithink try thermostat first then radiator assuming there is coolant in it. and i am from the uk so the speed may differ

I have money on the thermostat. In my old Z, I had a situation where the temp was fine up to 100kph. As soon as I got onto a 110 kph stretch, the temp started rising. The thermostat wasn't opening fully to allow proper coolant circulation.

I'm having a similar problem at the moment with my 33. When the weather is hot and I am on the freeway the temp slowly creeps up, as soon as I get off the freeway/stop it drops back down again....Kinda weird considering that cars normally cool down on the freeway. At the moment my money is on the thermostat. Just gotta get my hands on a new one to change it :D and will do the coolant at the same time. The radiator cap in mine feels fine, lots of spring tension...but not as much at the 1.3bar one sitting on my shelf :) so don't think it's that....
