i just bought a r32 and i know the car is running a little rough. the previous owner told me it has been sitting in his garage for about 6 months with only using it about 3 times. Also hasn't serviced it so i'll be doing that pretty soon. Everything else i'm happy with because there hasn't been any surprises. But the thing i'm very worried about is the fuel consumption. fileld up with bp ultimate yesterday to full and today its sitting at half a tank with only 115kms done. previously owning a lancer i shit my pants at the sight.

Now the owner told me it hasn't been tuned in a while and needs one asap. it has a greddy emanage piggback ecu, fuel regulator, t04 turbo setup which i'm trying to sell for stock (check fs section!!), 3" catless tbe and hks cooler. with all these mods is it only because it has not been tuned

since i'm a noob and this is my first turbo car i need to know what tuning to get, where to get it done in western suburbs of victoria for a reasonable price and also would like to know if there might be anything else that might be contributing to bad fuel consumption that i should be looking out for. My bro has a s13 with rb20det which is clean as and it gets around 420kms a tank. i'll be really happy if i can get it up to this standard.

please help me out peoples!!!!!noob in need lol!!!! :O

if u return the turbo set up to stock then you would normally see 400 ish to a tank. wit that setup it probably drinks a bit, i would dare to say 250-300 per tank at best.

western suburbs, hard to find some good tuners tho i have dealt with created motorsports in campbellfield. they do a great job and no there stuff. they are more northern tho. get a good tune done with what you have, you may increase the fuel economy with a good tune, full service including new fuel filter, new 02 sensor, and cleanign the afm and aac valves before the tune.

check out the tutorials forum for help with aac and afm, but leave a mechanic to do the service and fuel filter for you. then get the tune done. you may find your not gonna need to sell your setup.

btw wat boost you running?

i'm pretty sure last owner got it tuned at pro tek on 9 psi with current setup. not only selling setup because of the fuel consumption but because of staying legal lol..

Sat nite is ok, i have to wire up a S13 race car during the day for some-one (til about 3pm) my mobile is 0419 059220 (feel free to call anytime 2moro) is it a blue or ultimate? i have both software versions either way.

Yeh maintenance is needed badly by the looks of it.

I did some decent servicing on my RB25 (oil, plugs, air flow sensor etc.) and with a near-stock setup i see about 480-500km a tank.

You should be able to manage close to 400.

    • Yes to both! Yes to standard ECU and tune, but exhaust is aftermarket. Unsure on brand. Actually have it sitting in at my desk haha! I have to set it up on my laptop but this is a great next step, will do. So I generally try to shift before 4.5K RPM most times. I largely don't do a lot of high-rev driving, but I will take it up to red 1-2x a week max, as I know the occasional "Italian tune-up" is good for these cars.  Oh wow, is this way better than what I'm getting. Does this mean there's a good chance I have an issue?   Thanks for all the info so far guys.
    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
    • Does anyone know ow what these two plugs are for and if they should be unplugged? Just put the dash back together and can't remember if these were plugged in before or unplugged! (Blue and white plugs) 🤦🏽‍♂️
