hey bud, where abouts are you from?

I started my apprenticeship with Ford - Bayford. I have school payed for and is pretty much the most technically advanced schooling. Getting to work at the Campbellfield ford school working on brand new engines, Gearboxes etc. On my 3rd year now, and im currently doing 3rd year schooling, Qualified Tech training, Advanced diagnostics and just starting my EFI Tuning.

We are always looking for people with a good head on their shoulders to work, Its not really fun at the start, just services etc. Its nothing like a performance workshop, you dont "build" engines and stuff. More diagnostics, remove refit, and repair. Alot of the guys who come and "claim" they love cars and cars are their life, they show no interest or anything towards the job. If you show your interest to gain all you can in mechanics you will get far  trust me.

Cheers, Phill

ok i am from SE suburbs live in endeavour hills transport to get to work place is no problem still got my shitbox of a daewoo to carry me to work and stuff while my skyline in progress, i had interview with jefferson ford but i got no reply backa nd i called the service manager on phone and left a message but didint call back so no hope with ford atm :D

Dont bother signing up with anyone...

Just send your resume out to everywhere you would be keen on working.

I guarantee you will get more then a dozen phone calls for interviews etc.

Try BMW in the city, ford essendon, sunbury holden, mitsubishi essendon. They are all taking on apprentices.

I sent out approx 40-50 resumes when i was looking for one and had the phone ringing non stop.

who do you thinks employs you? you automatically get signed up with apprenticeships plus or something along those lines, benefits are great. 800 dollar tfyt voucher, 500 bucks after every year you do your apprenticeship. No one these days are employed through the company itself. Ford is my host employer and app plus is my base employer. Thats how it works.

I'm gonna agree with Phill here, being with a group training company is good :)

I'm currently employed by MEGT and work for Zagame Citroen in West Melbourne, I've been with MEGT for about over a year now, they looked after me while I was doing VCAL in year 11 and now my apprenticeship. Get your TFYT after 3 months in.. and if you are eligible can get up to about $2000 over 2 years of incentives. Never had any major dramas. Pay on time every week and super paid every week. And it really makes finding a job easier.

Good luck with it mate :thanks:

even if you have a fall out with ur employer, you can get put into another workplace very quick with a group training..

i cant c how bad it can b? tools payed for, everything on time every time. 1 month holidays a year. 500 bucks in your pocket tax free every chrissy.

Only needa do that for 4 years thru your apprenticeship and your set.

so i really do get tools for free with apprenticeships plus, and i could get job in major service centers like ford or holden, i will put in resume every where also i am keen can you give me a link to that place so i can sign up online or some thing

ohok so i just have to impress those dealerships well i was ask to ring some time this week to nissan to talk to service manager if i get in i could get nissan parts cheap :P and import some down ^^ lol

I finished my year 12, passed and wrote up a decent resume. I then applied for every mechanic apprenticship position available and went to all the interviews in a suit. Within a few weeks i had been accepted by ALL and i ended up choosing BMW over Ford, Hodlen, Mazda etc.

The best decision i made was BMW, they offer not only a great fair and well payed apprenticship but many other extras such as BMW school which is located in Mulgrave. This BMW schooling has got to be by far the best training and easily put you ahead of all the other mechanics out there.

The training is not only amazing but the technology of BMW and other german cars is far beyond the reach of ford, holden, mazda etc.

My 2 cents, hope it helps
