Motor basics below.....the rest of the driveline also plays a big part in the performance of the car.....hope this helps.

R31 GTS-r intercooler(sort of....there a GMS story behind it)

8:1 compression for the high comp motor. 7:1 compression for the low comp motor

21PSI on the high comp. 23PSI on the low comp

I always had a feeling that the Group A cars were being underdriven a tad as the owners are not always gun professional drivers + their cars are expensive and often of significant historical value. But...

Wow, Seto jumps behind the wheel and blitzes them :P So glad to see one of the old Grp A cars turn a bit of genuine speed. I was starting to get concerned by the fact that my lil GTSt can do similar times

Give us a couple of thousand laps around there like Seto and we will get a bit closer. Some of us have only done about 15 laps. I also think that 5 seconds off Seto's pace in the wet is pretty good for non professions.....and bringing them home straight on top of that. Good weekend had by all.

Well done to David Towe(BMW) who won & Bill Cutler(BMW) for third in the last race in the wet.

I was not having a dig at all. The std of driving thru the field is better then i could ever do. Anyway, if i had any one of the cars out there i doubt i would be able to race it becuase of the cars value and the expense to source parts and repair. So massive wraps for both punting the cars in the first place and doing it as well as you all do.

But, there are street cars in the car club that are quicker and it has always left me wondering, has car development come that far in the past 20years? Are semi slicks that much better then the tyres that were run 20years ago. Or does the old power vs weight with good grip will bag you better time? So for me it was good to see the M3 show the turn of speed it did :/

Any truth to the talk late last year that Richo, Seton and Bowe could be regulars this season? Be great to see, and i imagine as a competitor awesome to be racing against drivers of that calibre

I just re-read my response.....sorry my response reads a little different to how I had it in my head.....I know what you were saying and it's pretty clear you weren't having a shot at us.

There are some pretty quick street cars out there I agree.....but can they do 1,000k's at 9/10's or even 40 laps at Eastern Creek at that. On top of that do they get better the longer they go? I have driven some pretty well prepaired street registered race cars in the past and non of them really do the race thing as well as the Group A's or a purpose build race car. Power to weight with good balance and grip should always pay off. I find if you have to much power it is very easy to overdrive the car, or make tyres go off. This is OK for short races or sprints but not for long races. Just to be clear I am talking about Circuit cars not Targa/Hillclimb/Sprint cars.

Richo is still racing his Falcon, Bowe his Mustang and Seton his Capri. What I can tell you is Seton may be driving MCM this year with us. Wether it's a BMW or Sierra I don't know. Unfortunately I wont be racing at MCM but Dad will.

P.S. Payback will be sweet if it rains at MCM....I'll see how Dad likes semi slicks it the rain!!!! :down:

    • Lower at the hubs. Funny I forgot to mention that part. Do this pull here I turned the camera off too soon but the graph shows a drop at the top and that was because the pipe from the turbo blew off. The tuner said we could’ve made possibly another 15 whp. He also added if I switched to ethanol we could up the boost some more as well. I was comfortable capping it at the most of 20 pounds. Turns out the turbo pipe just needed a new worm clamp. Got home replaced that then did a third gear pull from 3k to 7200 rpm and the power was great to the top. I just got an ecu mounting bracket from IEE that I need to try and get everything to fit well. It’s a PITA to get the harness and ecu fit properly behind that kick plate 
    • He means "as opposed to mechanical cable drive". Older cars (R32 for ex.) had cable drive. Later cars with essentially the same gearbox, ie R34 GT (NA RB25) used essentially the same box as the R32 GTSt, but instead of a cable drive, had an electronic speed sender plugged into the same hole in the box, running from the same little gear that would have run the cable. Some of the shittier later cars use a speed sender on the nose of the diff, or the ABS sensors.
    • Lower than engine, or lower than it should at the hubs? Either way, that is a nice power figure and I'm not surprised you say it rips now. What stopped you from turning it up any more? Injectors? Or did it just stop responding to boost?
    • Got my 34 gtt tuned last week. Car made 362 wheel horsepower at 19 psi. Turbo was the ATR43SS. Only other upgrades were haltech 2000 series. 650cc injectors, walbro 250, fmic. Pro hub dyno reads 6% lower than actual figure according to my tuner. Car is a real ripper now.  IMG_7261.mov
    • Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone in Melbourne (preferably West) has a non-S2 R34 front bar. If it's already off the car, even better!  Nothing too weird, I just need to get a cut-out of the hole that the front indicators clip into 🤣 (image attached for reference)   I've got a front bar from JSAI Aero, but those holes need to be cut myself, and I want to get it right so the indicators will clip securely. And my OEM bumper is a S2, so I have no reference. So looking for a member who might be able to spare me a few minutes to make a cardboard cut-out using your front bar.
