how do i stop it for coming up on my r33 cause it looks stupid 10 foot in the air?

there is a switch on ur dash on the left hand side next to the steering wheel... try using that... or listen 2 a CD...

there is no switch on the left hand side an when i put cd on it doesnt go down cause its a pioneer deck!

i have searched the forums for an answer but cant seem to find one unless i unplug the cable to the deck right?

i have a pioneer also got it 2yrs ago, every time i put a cd in the antenna comes up, the stereo that was in the car prior to the pioneer never had that problem, oh well u get used to it.

so other brands don't have this problem, just pioneer?

pull the deck out and disconnect the antenna wire.

but what about when i want to listen to the radio, will the antenna still come up?

i had the same thing

i found sony ones have seperate antenna activate wire that only makes the anteanna go up when u listen to radio

pioneer only have the amp activate whichi s shared with the antenna so the antenna goes up all the time. i just disconnected it. i got good radio with the antenna down somehow?

the swtich in the picture controls the aerial height... i took my dash apart to install the white speedo kit and obviously disconnected everything... when i reconnected everything n turned the radio back on, it went (like you said) 10ft in the air... i pressed down on this switch and the aerial went down to the desired height... i dont know if the computers memory stores is height in it but everytime i turn the car back on, its at the height i set it at using that switch... btw my car is a R33 GTS-T sII... i dont know if the series 1 has this...

if you want height control and you are willing to go to a commodore wrecker. grab a antenna control module from a VP calais and then you have height control. its on a white 6pin plug in the passenger kickpanel. then you can set it to any height you wnat.

Oh man I feel like a tool...

I bought a sorta "CarPC" kind of head unit from the States... it does DVD/CD mp3,wmv, bluetooth, with a 3.5" screen. It didn't have a dedicated antenna control wire, and overall the product seemed lacking in the basic functions and ease of use. I had a bit of a go at the manufacturer about the antenna wire, then spent a few weeks shopping around for a "standard" brand of HU.

I just received my Pioneer DEH-P600UB which does everything except the DVD part... low and behold, no antenna wire! I could shoot myself!

As "naga" said above, it seems that all or most Pioneer units don't control your electric antenna. =-/

My 10+ year old Kenwood unit in my first car did, my ancient Sanyo "CD-only" POS did, and my current 4 year old Kenwood HU does it. The two units I have just bought don't. =-[

I feel your disappointment... the antenna up all the time looks dorky.

i have a r33 1995/ series 1.5 and im pretty sure ih ave that switch, just not in that same poistion. I will check when i get home from uni and post a pic up..

I may be wrong tho. Shall see tonight.

I have a series 1, no switch. Actually i have no antenna. It's broken off. I reckon the Jap owner got the shits so hard seeing a flagpole on the boot he just got out in anger and ripped it off. Hmmm, that's what too much sake does.

I can still hear the antenna motor whir when i turn on the radio- but the deck is Japanese and has hardly any bandwidth. Plus no antenna! So i just play CD's...WTF?

Hmm, an angry Japanese owner, are you sure you didn't rip it off and your covering it up >_<

Anyway, the switch doesn't stop the ariel going up it has two settings, a moderate sort of height, and really damn high.

As soon as I put in my Pioneer stereo it goes up, even if I'm using USB/CD et cetera, so I'm considering checking if I can pull the fuse on the ariel without any negative side effects, or just getting used to it :).

For now I've gotten used to it.

Mine doesnt have anything like that, altho my aerial isnt even connected. I know the wire is broken, but i cant hear the motor running either. I just pushed mine down so its out of site. The only time the radio has troubles picking up a signal is sometimes when i reverse into the garage, and in multistory car parks, but only sometimes! My head unit is a cheap Clarion, so I dont know if it has an aerial wire or not
