After alot of debating between a C10, another DR30, R32 GT-R or something practicle I can use everyday.

I've made up my mind, it has to be the C10!

Does anyone know of any being complied in Australia and wether it was a pretty straight forward like any other import? or a complete and utter headf**k???

Also is much interchangable with more modern suspension/handling or will I be spending alot of time on a lathe/mill putting my toolmaking experiance into play customising parts to fit.

Basic compliance on the old girls, side intrusion bars rear retractables and rear parcel shelf anchors and a engineers sign off, if you're in Perth ring Tenagah Ant there is very experienced in compliancing and he has a ..... 78 SKyline, same will apply for a dr unlike a 32 gtr that will require raws spec full compliance and large bill

Thanks guys :thanks:

For the time being wont be off to perth anymore, I unexpectedly got offered a new job not too long ago here in Adelaide, and the money was way too good to refuse :PBJ:

also can someone give a me a good indication what I should actually be paying for a C10. I have seen some on some importer sites I wont name for $20-25,000+ (non complied)

But some sites i found awhile back (in japan) I could swear were around AU$10,000-$15,000. (would have to add shipping)

Cos my very good friend from Hong Kong frequents Japan and constantly is telling me how much cars actually cost in Japan and compliance + shipping costs + $1000 fee doesnt quite add up to what some of these importers are charging (FD RX-7 is a really great example), I just dont want the wool pulled over my eyes.

Can someone en-lighten me.

I wont be looking for something immaculate, just something that isnt a rust heap and complete.

So what part of Adelaide are you going to

also SA has a VERY small car scene its bad, but mallala a drift track 50KM or so out of the city / my suburb holds drift days pfft once a month

soz to burst the bubble

Im allready in Adelaide :)

Was going to move to Perth until I got a very good job offer, which made me want to stay for another 12months.

In 12 months time who knows, the club scene in Adelaide is shithouse x100! And has made impossible to move any further DJ'n (as i refuse to play commercial garbage), apart from playing for the odd Internationals these days, here I am ''too underground'' for Adelaide!

The Adelaide hills are fun enough! why bother going to Mallala :D

Now back to the topic :/

Small car scene???? You obviously don't know the right people, people tend to keep on the down low these days.

You pay shipping, buyer's fee in Japan, plus import duty and GST on the FOB price.

You can definitely save money by buying and importing your own car, but if anything goes wrong, then you're in a whole lot of trouble (potentially). Many people look at the importer's fee as buying peace of mind. It cost me about $2k on top of what I could potentially have bought my R32 skyline for 7 years ago. Well worth the money in my opinion.

If you need to save every last $$ then have a go for yourself, but be aware that you may have a lot of leg work to do - very daunting for a first timer.

If you have to pay a reputable importer a couple of grand to get you the car you want, then I reckon it;s money well spent.
