Just Insured my Series 2 RS FOUR S today for $1500 a year, $1000 excess cause I'm under 25, Agreed value. With JUSTCAR.

Got a quote over the phone from NRMA for over $3000 a year. :P as a result I didn't get it with them

quoted $1367 today on the Just Cars site. Youngest driver will be 34, didn't say what the insured value was.

Forget Just Cars.

Go with Shannons. Much better for anyone over 30 with an import.

You may want to check what the insured value is and what Just Cars will pay out if it is stolen or written off.

Assuming that you have a cleanish history, you shouldn't be looking at over $900 with Shannons.

Unless you don't have a garage. :)

Then you have no chopice and there goes my exhaust. Might just have to build a garage.

I don't have a garage at the moment. Shannons knows this (my insurance went up ~$100pa)

That said, the block I currently live on is set back with only a 30m driveway to the road.

There goes your exhaust? Why?

Shannons say that In NSW/Sydney you have to have a garage. I will check again today but that is what they said last year.

LSV insurance went up 60% this year to $2600 for an old bastard like me with no loss of licence or infringements. I use the car for business and parked in a driveway. Just Car are better this year, premium has not gone up and excess is now reasonable at $600 compared to $1200 they wanted last year.

The price I am continuing to have to pay to insure this car is taking all my money. ($1800 PA) It is giving me the shits.

ahhh youre insuring it for business use? then yeah, thats the problem

are you SURE you have to insure it for business use?? ive been through all of this before with using a car for work if you wanna PM me about it

at least what I spend on the car is only costing me half what I pay after tax return. ;)

So maybe I have to think about the exhaust only costing me $500 not the 4950 quoted. :)

$4950? I presume you mean $950??

I guess that means that you have to have it done before end of financial year as well, ay?

That's a little bit more than what I was on last year with Justcar when I was under 25, $1300 a year $500 excess. Now I,m 25 it dropped to $800 a year with a $400 excess. Also none of the mods i've done so far have had an effect on my premium.

$850 with just car. They let you lower your premium if you're prepared to increase the excess. Cant remember what the excess is - I think its about $1200 from memory. I've been with just car for many years - not sure if they take that into consideration...

Tried shannons years ago - and was rejected because of the lockable garage thing - I only had a carport which apparently makes a big difference. Made me very nervous about what they would cover....i mean, say i had a garage but always parked the car outside? would I be covered? or say I did use the garage but one night left the car on the street and it was stolen? Now I'm pretty sure they would probably cover these, but I just feel safer with Just Car who in my opinion have less restrictive policies. That said, I've heard better reports about shannons than just car, but I had to go with the next best available option.

Its about trying to find an insurer who can offer a reasonable price but also one that can give you a level of cover you're happy with and that suits your car usage.

    • The R32 suffers from an instrument binnacle that is uncomfortably close to the design of a VN Commodore's. But beyond that, the layout of the rest of everything, and the materials (ie the vinyl coverings on dash, armrest, etc) are acceptable, and the patterns on the fabrics are not as blergh as those in the R33. And R33 seats are....quite unattractive. I know it's only small details there, but I reckon the R33 got worse than the 32. But the big blergh is the overall shape of the dash on the R33. It's just has that whole Maxima/Pulsar sort of look to it. Nothing special at all. Generic Nissan sedan. Whereas, at least the R32 dash/binnacle was different. Less a wide expanse of boringly curved plastic. More a "cockpit" sort of look, even if nowhere near to the degree that the A90 Supras got. R34 seats look good on their own, until you realise that they are indistinguishable from the shape and fabric on 70 other Japanese cars. And the foam bolsters on them suffer even worse than the earlier cars. Other than that I don't really have an opinion the rest of the R34 interior. I took the bits of the R34 I wanted (brakes and engine) and added them to the best external appearance Skyline in the modern era (the 32). So nyerr!
    • Can I be your first customer? I would like hard lines done for the fuel system, 8AN up and 8AN back and the underside wire wheeled and coated (brush or sprayed) with that black tar shit.
    • Speak for yourself, I love the R33 interior. 32 is blergh. I like the 34 interior too. Then you start getting much newer in most cars and they all turn back to blergh. 馃槢
    • 500-600hp into a RB is already 'sinking endless amounts of money' into an engine. Especially a 30 year old engine. Unfortunately this is the RB Game. Considering stock power (or at least stock components) will do ~360whp on 98 by simply turning up the boost on the stock gear on a RB26, that would be where I'd say the cutoff point for "sinking endless amounts of money into the engine" Cause to even do this reliably you'd probably need to replace all the bits anyway cause they're old, starting your sinking journey anyway. I reckon the least painful way is rebuilding the engine to make 50hp over stock lol. The 'plan your ownership around a rebuild' was a common saying 15 years ago.
