I totally agree but it doesnt always take a fast car to do something stupid...

no it doesn't! the best was in high school seeing the yr 12's with their vn's and vp's taking out fences and flying into houses at the back of the school! :D

Adam , once someone like the people you are talking about have made up their minds, you have two chances of changing them.

Buckleys and none LOL

But here are some arrows for your bow next argument

I bet they all had an ilegal mod on their car back when they were our age. Even better still

The road toll was higher per head of population back when they were our age , They didnt have to wear seat belts, the blood alcohol limit was .08 (Higher), and they had cars without ABS, ATTESA, DISC brakes allround and Air bags etc etc.

O and another thing , If you ever get out numbered again, we forum members will gladly slowly rock up at your house for a bit of moral support. :)

O , call them all a bunch of wowsers , LOL

yeah sh*ts me when media do dodgy statistics like they showed in the paper once that the road toll was increasing over the years then compared it to like 1950, i mean how many cars were on the road at the time has a big factor on how many accidents there are. another one i seen was defects were on the rise over the years and the article attached saying this means the average car on the road is more unsafe than the average car on the road 10 years ago. That might be true if the defects actually went to stupid cars with rope n such holding em together but im afraid thats not the case.

but people can make statistics to prove anything 40% of people know that :laughing-smiley-014:

Sorry to rebump an old topic but i have found something that relates to this topic in a news article about the proposed motorsport park at Torrens Island. Read the last Paragraph.

AN UNDISCLOSED consortium of wealthy Adelaide investors is ready to build a $25 million-plus motorsport complex in Adelaide.

Featuring a drag racing strip, speedway, race circuit and jet boat racing, the complex is expected to be up and running in about 15 months.

Spokeswoman for the consortium, Anna Micheel, said the three mystery investors were working with the Land Management Corporation to secure a site in the north or north-western suburbs within the next three months.

About 120ha would be needed.

"We're hoping to have the first stage up and running within 12 months (after that)," she said.

A former manager of Adelaide International Raceway at Virginia, Ms Micheel would not name the investors but described them as "leading business people within Adelaide who are very passionate motorsport enthusiasts and definitely have the money".

Ms Micheel said the privately-funded hub would include a "business park" for supporting industries and could also provide "a service to the community" as a training ground for emergency service vehicles, driving schools and a concert venue.

"There is no other venue (in Australia) that can house the number of motorsport events that they wish to house," she said.

"It's something that Adelaide desperately needs."

Australian National Drag Racing Association chief executive officer Tony Thornton said Perth, Sydney and Ispwich had top drag racing venues and a new complex would be built in Melbourne by late next year but Adelaide was missing out.

A drag strip in Adelaide would "link up the national chain", he said. Mr Thornton hoped the venue also would improve road safety by holding regular amateur competitions.

"There are lots of young people doing increasingly stupid things on the road and having access to a drag strip to have a go almost whenever they want isn't going to eradicate it (hoon driving) but it provides a safer option," he said.

Since the opening of the Western Sydney International Dragway NSW police said illegal street racing "has been non-existent" in the area.

Yeah, it's hardly rocket science......anyone with abit of hp needs an outlet otherwise the streets are always gonna be the only option.

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
