Bought the Trial style front bumper off mybodykits guy on eBay and did a test fit over the weekend and came up with a few questions.

1. The bumper looks like it won't sit flush with the headlights without either cutting the reo bar or trimming back the two top vents of the kit. I assume cutting the reo is illegal? Anyone have any better ideas to get the fit nice and snug?

2. What's a better option for the indicators? I read here in another thread that I can buy $5 trailer indicators from Kmart or source a GTR set which also fit apparently. If I take the Kmart option how would I go about attaching them to the indicator housings? Drill holes and screw or glue in? What about the actual indicator connection plugs?

Also I think I might need to extend the cables for each indicator as they'll sit a few inches further in than the stock ones. Can I do this myself or should I take it to an auto electrician?

I'm fitting this to my R33 S2 GTS. I've read here that the bumper is supposed to fit both S1 and S2 Skylines but I'd like some confirmation that both series have the same or similar reo bar dimensions.

Cheers

S1 headlights and grill bulges out more than the S2

so they make the bar which fits both series such that

for S1, the headlights and grill sticks out a little from the bar

for S2, the headlights and grill sits a little inside the bar

all in all the gap is no more than 1cm

the mybodykits guy is a little dodgy so watch out

How'd you figure?

As for lights I can apparently get some trailer lights from Supercheap which should fit the housings on the kit. I'll figure out how they'll stay there when I get them I suppose.

My main concern at the moment is actual fitment of the bumper. Can someone please confirm that cutting the reo is illegal? How common are defects for chopped reo's? It's either that or I shave an inch or so off the center vents.

mybodykits has been warned by ebay for false bidding, he gets his mates or has another ebay account and bids on his own auctions

yes cutting the reo is illegal as it makes weaker, its been discussed many times regarding intercooler fitment

it would be safer just to trim the bar

Cutting your reo is illegal in many states. However it is a very common practice, as you will most likely need to cut the reo for a FMIC.

EDIT: Cutting your bar is not usually an option because of the shape of the bar. I would say that any large mouth opening bar would need to have the reo cut in order for it to fit properly.

Really? Because he's got a 100% positive feedback and the comments buyers have left were pretty favourable towards the product and service. Also I was the only bidder for this bar. How can you tell he's had a warning?

Anyway, has anyone here been defected for a cut reo? I mean how often do the cops check that sort of thing?

Narva do a trailer light that fit, about $10 ea.

I just had the same bar from the same place fitted, panel beater said it was a nightmare to get on, had to take a lot out of the reo for it to fit.

On the other hand, (just to stay neutral here) Cheez had fantastic fitment on his bar (once again, same bar, same place) so it's a bit of a gamble.

my 1 fitted good, i actually cut the reo and did the fit up myself. all that is needed with the reo is a slot cut in the reo for the n1 slots and shave about 1 inch off the vents.

to close the gap on the head lights, all i did was make the front 2 reo holes oval so u could change the angle of the reo, by doing this i pitched the reo up higher and when u fitted the bar on it sat with no gap at all.
