If i say i will probably loose my job.....all i will say is that its under security and its supposible still under HUSH HUSH by Nissan

hopefully its only for the motor show...

we still have the 18 month rule to consider starting from October 24th 2007, its still a long way off.

are you joking?

tell me you dont know what youre on about.

Youre not trying to say i have to wait 18 months to export a car to Australia from japan as a personal import??!! :miner::)

no, from Oct 24th 2007 + 18 months is the window that Nissan OZ has to show documentation that they plan to import these cars in FULL VOLUME.

IF Nissan does this, (and if i get this next bit correct) no one will be able to import them... well, grey import them

but 12month+ rego hist for personal imports will still be ok

i'm sure there are about 50 people in this thread who can correct that if i'm wrong

Indeed my mistake - the car is actually at fords proving grounds, cos the pics I seen of it were in there testing, on the dyno and on the hoist!!

The gunmetal colour looks AWESOME - how lucky would u be working at ford.

I think this car is probably the one that will be displayed at the motor show later this month!! So if its a different colour - id say theres more than one official GTR in the country!!! :miner:

Yeah, I would love to work at ford. From what I hear they will be lucky to have a job in 09.

lol why, there's already 6 of the bloody things running around on the streets on trade plates.

not to mention one doin fully sick Chap laps.

Ill take a stab in the dark and guess that the owner of that one is the same guy who owns a white v35 twin turbo that suffered a failure at wakefield park causing a decent sized oil spill a while ago. It may have been the powerplay day but was a while ago so my memory isnt 100% on the organisers of the day. He also used to own a done up R34. Tallish bloke. Was at the last sau dyno day at UAS. He really likes to talk. Was also at the BBQ i organised at coledale beach but came late and had a crowd around the v35 (as it was newish then).

Yep, i reckon its that guy

Got pics of it? Has it got 24'' hectik chromies on it yet?

You're not wrong.

But its not what people are doing in this instance. There is another way to get a car in that does not rely on any of this. The proof will be in the pudding once the car is wearing a NSW license plate.

I cannot say what exactly the requirements are because i am not an expert. Just going off what I've been told there is not an 18 month wait involved in this case. Nor is there a 12 month personal import taking place.

hmmmm.... very interesting.......

my guess is that maybe as this will be a car sold WORLD WIDE, it helps it fall under some other area that DOESN'T require the testing/evidence extent of other JDM models?

Being a global model might mean that it's deemed more compliant with our ADR's already????

just a stab

Damn guys...reading this thread gave me a headache.

Let's rename this forum J-Spec Imports...

I will assume Nissan Oz will bring in R35's within 12 months. This isn't 1990 and the GTR will sell much easier than ol' R32.

Aside from a small number of racing teams and other importers bringing in R35's now, you can be sure Nissan Oz has been in talk with Nissan Jap and also Gov't bodies to cut some deals. There's money to be made here and Nissan will be there with bells on.

Lets get a few things corrected.

A car can only be imported into Australia with an appropriate VIA. From my contacts 3 VIA's have been issued for R35's.

1 x Nissan Australia (Melbourne Motor Show)

1 x Donut King

1 x NSW company (unknown name)

I have been told that Nissan have special a special VIA that allows them to register the car under certain conditions. The other 2 vehicles have been imported under the Race/Rally regulations via Perth.

I have also been told that if either of the non Nissan cars are used on the road (with trade plate or not) that the owner faces immediate confiscation of the car and the owner and/or driver faces very stiff (corporate level) fines. If as other forum members have noted that a car has been seen on the road, where is the Video footage and photos? In an age where every one has a phone with a camera, how come we don't have any evidence of a car in Chappel Street? Sounds like an urban myth to me.

Why would you risk a 150K plus car on the road when it shouldn't be there?

lol nice nick too.

but surely more than 3 VIA have been issued? there are other r35s on the boat already right, so hopefully they obtained import approvals first.

As you said above there are 3 race/rally already here (1x NSW, 2x Perth)

Nissan has one

and a group in NSW have one, presumably to obtain compliance

giant has bought one race/rally (on the boat yet?)

DK have bought 2 more (but may not have been put on the boat yet)

Your so called DOTARS insider is about as clued up as the average public servant I see...

- The donut king car is race rally

- Theres a few more than 3 VIA's issued for R35's.

- About 10 people have posted pics of 35's on the road with trade plates, take your pick.
