To gain respect you must first show that you are worthy of such.

"Get a Life" & "Key Board Warrior" and such incitfull words of wisdom as "tell me how long a piece of string is" really show the maturity of some forum members. Arguing the merits of the posting i can accept, after all that is the actual purpose of a forum in the 1st place but personal barbs i will not tolerate, be I be a newby or long termer.

Around the corner from me in Punch Bowl there is a certain shop (alledgedly) that curently has 2 race cars in their position that were importhed in this manner.

I wasn't aware that Punchbowl NSW was around the corner from Frankston VIC :domokun:

your heart may be in the right place, but your methods leave us all doubting. what's th point of anonymity over such a trivial discussion.

wow, your "insider" info is sounding like more of an "outsider" after every post...

mate, your argument has been handed back to you on a platter, in lots of tiny pieces... harden up, admit you're wrong, and let's get back to the nitty gritty like when the hell are some of these GTR's which are going to pass through melbourne, be given to Final Inspection for a detail!!! I want a close up look damn it!!

I'm getting the impression you work for Nissan Australia and/or you have a vested interest in disseminating FUD (that's fear, uncertainty and doubt for you) regarding the possibility/legitimacy of importing R35 GT-R's parrallell to Nissan Australia. Posting on subjects which you either have no first hand knowledge about or something you heard second hand.

At the moment you come across as someone who does not know what's going on in the Australian import scene so when you attempt to tell it like it is you're officially making a fool of yourself. Your DOTARS insider has no correct information or information that is out of date. A few of the forum members who are posting in here are close to what's going on with the GT-R's in the country and you aren't...

So who are you? Own up and tell us your name...

Now lets clarify what is being posted here from a different point of view being "business in confidence" specifically statements on who is importing what R35 GTR's as this is of a concern, if you look back at older posts certain information about various business is mentioned and were the information comes from or hinted to were it is coming from is the more important thing so a quick overview of the privacy act is below.

No one on a forum and going on your info a Government Employee or which ever place he gets the information from can tell/post about a vehicle of mine along the lines of when a VIA was issued, were is it going and and other statements like "The rest are pending (and as i have been told) will be pending for a loooonnnnggg time (race/rally excluded)".

Commonwealth and ACT government agencies must comply with 11 Information Privacy Principles which are set out at section 14 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Question: I am concerned that a Commonwealth or ACT government agency is using my personal information incorrectly. What can I do?

Answer: If you believe an agency is mishandling your personal information, first of all contact the agency to express your concerns. The staff member you speak to at the agency should be able to tell you why your information was collected, how it is being used or disclosed and whether there are any relevant laws that allow the agency to use or disclose it in the manner it has.

For further information on lodging a complaint with this Office, please see the How to make a complaint or Your Privacy Rights pages of our website. If you still have questions, or you would like to discuss the matter before you lodge a complaint, you can contact the Privacy Hotline on 1300 363 992 or by sending an email to [email protected].

Good point.

If our "DOTARS insider's" friend really did tell him that an import approval was granted for "the Donut King car" he is probably in breach of federal privacy regulations. Quite ironic considering he's blabbering about people "misusing" trade plates but at the same time spilling his guts about information that he has no business being aware of.

Lets get a few things corrected.

A car can only be imported into Australia with an appropriate VIA. From my contacts 3 VIA's have been issued for R35's.

1 x Nissan Australia (Melbourne Motor Show)

1 x Donut King

1 x NSW company (unknown name)

I have been told that Nissan have special a special VIA that allows them to register the car under certain conditions. The other 2 vehicles have been imported under the Race/Rally regulations via Perth.

I have also been told that if either of the non Nissan cars are used on the road (with trade plate or not) that the owner faces immediate confiscation of the car and the owner and/or driver faces very stiff (corporate level) fines. If as other forum members have noted that a car has been seen on the road, where is the Video footage and photos? In an age where every one has a phone with a camera, how come we don't have any evidence of a car in Chappel Street? Sounds like an urban myth to me.

Why would you risk a 150K plus car on the road when it shouldn't be there?

more to the point....get out and do your own job properly before you start to do the police's job....you guys are the biggest bunch of lazy bullshit weilding bastards i have ever come across....DOTARS burn in hell.....thanks for reading

I used to deal with DOTARS on a weekly basis. Sure it was regarding Diesel Engines for Trucks, but similar processes i imagine were in place.

It took anywhere from a year to a just a few weeks to have them pass. The ones that took a year were, where legal teams were involved. Mainly because DOTARS do not like dealing with Carbon Credits. Most were passed within 1-2 months.

I do not understand the laws in their entirety regarding on road testing... but believe me when i say i have driven prototypes with trade plates legitimently. These were one off's that have since had a few changes and then proceeded to production.

I assume that Nissan Australia will be conducting some testing of their own (to fine tune suspension etc for our sub-standard roads) and i have also heard of more than 3 R35's getting about.

Either way, it's a great looking car, it's performance is un-questionable, i'd love to see one on the street, talk to the owner and look under the hood and more to the point, i want one.

In your few postings on this forum (under this guise?) you have not exactly conducted yourself in the manner that would command respect either. The 'personal barbs' have clearly arisen out of frustration experienced by forum members in response to the arrogance displayed by you in relation to the specialist and enthusiast importation regulations, and your apparent lack of knowledge thereof.

Kindly do not post misleading and inaccurate information without doing thorough research first .... from a credible source. It's not a debate as you say, it is just the constant rebuttle of your ridiculous comments.

ahahahhha, i too remember dealing with DOTARS..... +1 to the comment above

:laughing-smiley-014:

I still fail to see what "DOTARS Insider" has brought to the table apart from some half formed, ill conceived snippets of information that anyone with half an ear to the ground would know of anyway. If he wants to garner some respect or credibility he needs to ask his supposed insider mates for something juicy. Even then he's still that far behind the 8 ball that its barely worth the effort.

Its not school holidays in the East already is it?

ahh c'mon you guys are mean. I want to learn more from inside DOTARS. What is going on? What is the coffee like? Is it true all of your funding comes from Toyota to make sure they don't have to compete with their own products and to support otherwise unprofitable local manufacturers? Why does it take more than an hour to process a 5 page import approval form?

you mean why does it take one month????

you mean why does it take one month????

they're still processing December approvals atm last I heard. there's only 3 or 4 people who deal with the approval forms... can get a lil overwhelming.

    • Which manifold mate? Meanwhile......Mark is wondering how bonnet vents would look on the NC 🤣
    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
