Ok so I was working on the car, taking it back to stock for sale late last night/early morning and finished up and went to bed. When I went back out there this morning to look at it in the daylight I realised that I had used the block banjo from a spare water feed line as the oil feed banjo on the turbo if that makes sense. Looking at the two side by side, their dimensions are very similar with the water banjo being longer. They both run the same threads obviously, so this begs the question, do you think Ill be able to get away with leaving it in there? Only reason is I find it really hard to get time to work on it given work commitments and others but at the same time I don’t want to sell the car as a lemon

Cheers

so you used a slightly longer banjo bolt? the only thing I can think of sometimes there is a restrictor built into the bajo bolt and a water feed will most likely be flowing more than an oil feed.

providing the orrifice inside the bajo bolts are the same (could be hard to check for certain) and you had it seated down on the washers properly it 'should' be ok. but I honestly think you'll feel better once you swap it. turbo oil feed is a pretty crucial thing to ensure long happy turbo life. too much, or too little oil and you have problems. and if it leaks even worse as it's under some decent pressure, and hot oil, onto hot manifold = fire.

Ryan I just put a hiflow on my car last week and I noticed that the oil and watre bajnjo's were quite different. I cant remember exactly what the differences were but I do remember thinking they were not interchangeable.

Sorry for being a bit vague, lol.

ok so im trying to put in the oil banjo back in atm and it just doesnt seem to have the length in the thread for some reason? It will thread in for a thist or two and then stops, it almost feels like its the wrong thread, and then when i sit the two next to one another the threads seem no to match up which has me thinking that the one that I thought was the actual oil feed banjo may not infact be it

So I think I have gotten the bolts mixed up. Bothe the bolts are more or less the same when I sit them next to one another, the one that I think is the "water" actually has a slightly smaller internal diameter, with the only real difference being the length of the thread

I dont really know dude, but ive got 2 sitting here in front of me (banjo bolts i presume your talking about) and they are completely different width and length wise.

If you mean the hose tails (the piece the banjo bolt goes into) they are slightly different size depending on what they have come from.

What turbo is really teh question. The garrett gt series doesnt use much oil. I went with -4 line for the bling factor.

Ok so to clarify, its a stocky as Im taking the car back to stock.

And the banjo bolts I think I have mixed up are the oil feed that screws into the turbo, and the water return banjo that screws into the block

If anybody could tell me what sizes they are, that woudl be awesome

Cheers

    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
    • Yes, a plan for non-action is always my first sort of plan! I'm happy to see what falls out of invision's update. I had been having some thoughts on what to do with this the other day and they all seem to have fled my memory, after various solar panel induced traumas, squeaking suspension sphericals, etc etc, over the last little bit. I'll try and recall what I had in mind and make sure that I put it into print in some form before the Alzheimer's strikes again.
    • The ability to have both a 5500 stall for launching, and a regular lockup for every other scenario is pretty sweet. Does it actually work well like that though in the real world? Would it hold up to track use and otherwise you'd never know you had a stall converter in it? If so, that's awesome
    • The thing is, once the content has been tagged we can chop and change the end result as much as we want. Its identifying the content in the first place that needs to be done regardless of the final outcome.
    • Sorry @GTSBoy I thought I'd replied here. There's a new BIG version of invision coming out soon, it might be worth waiting until that happens as it contains a lot of improved functionality for tags. My suggestion would be to add a top level page (not thread) with some info on it and then link to sub pages for various topics. We could even just start really simple with 2 or 3 pages underneath it. Those pages could just have a view (like a pre configured search result) of the tags we choose to put on it. We could have some background or an intro on each of these pages. My only issue is that while admins and mods can update the existing content to contain the tags we want, new posts can have whatever tags the author wants. That said, the reason our tags are so messy is because of that, so maybe we restrict tagging to admins/mods in edits.
