I've been doing a bit of reasearch into this lately and have decided on the Canon EOS 400D, its theyre newest entry level camera, has more features and bigger screen than theyre old 350D and is 10.1 megapixels, if i remember its 3 shots a second, but that could be wrong.

I decided on this one over other brands entry camera's for a few reasons but mostly based on reviews and other peoples opinions

cheapest price iv'e found so far is camera house at ~$1100 for the twin lens kit which has an 18-3mm lens and a 70-300mm lens

but online if you search around you can get the same kit for closer to $900

heres a good comparison/review link

edit: also theyre supposed to be having the new 450D coming out end of Feb beginning of March if you feel like waiting a bit to either get the new one r get the 400D cheaper

my first DSLR is the 400D.. great entry level camera, I didnt know anything about photography when I picked one up and I love learning with this thing.

this is some examples of shots I took when I first got the camera

Im going to be different, pentax K10D. Bloody fantastic camera thats won a lot of awards, its got a ton of features over their entry level K100D or you could go the newer K20D. As a plus you should get it for roughly $1k (at most) so you've got change!

Seriously check it out, at least 5 major photographic organisations & magazines named it DSLR of the year for '07.

Be weary of some places selling 400D 'Twin Lens Packages' as there are a few places that have put together their own Twin Packs using a cheaper second lens to enable them to offer the whole kit for less.

I searched high and low for the best genuine deal, and the cheapest that I found was The Good Guys.

I bought the Twin Lens Kit in Black for $1150 from memory, and due to buying it just before going overseas I also got the GST airport rebate so it worked out less again :P

getting mine on the 24th of this month, dunno wether im gunna get the 400D or the 450D but i wanna know what lenses i should be getting, i dun wanna get cheaped out with crappy lenses haha

i guess im after a wide angle and a zoom lense. would like to do some macro shots too but only gunna get a twin lense kit. even if i have to throw a bit more cash for better lenses. any suggestions ?

hey fellas, i work at Olympus Australia and can get cheap deals on DSLR's and any ordinary digital camera.

cheaper then RRP, pm me if you're after anything..

cheers

^ basicly the standard lens that comes with the dslr kit is pretty basic..

throw up the lens specs of the twin lens kit you're getting.
