Brentt, i have replied to your PM.

I have the same goals for my build and had chosen to Garrett GT3076R-IW (GT30R) 0.83A/R. With my engine specs i expect to get about 300-330rwkw@20psi, with the response equivalent to that of a std hi-flow on a std rb25 engine.

Not sure if this will be too tail happy, till the car is running, but the other option would be a GT35R.

im currently building an RB26 race spec motor. Its my daily driver but will also be my circuit car.

Im currently leaning towards a GT35R in the .86 rear trim for the best compromise between response and power.

I ran a GT35R with a 1.06AR on my rx7 race car and the response was phenomenal and the power was substantial.. (400hp @ 16psi) not to mention the torque.

Being a smaller motor i think the .86 or .82 whatever the option was might be the better pick.

300rwkw is easily achievable with this turbo without having to run too much boost

I had a chance to drive 3 cars with RB30DETT. Their turbo are twin TD06, T04Z and twin T517Z.

The T04z was laggy and wouldn't' be appropriate for the track.

Try T518Z or T517Z with 10cm housing

My pick would be a 60-1 comp with a small stge3 t3 turbine with an .82 a/r rear. Use a decent merge style small runner exhaust manifold with something like 260 tomei cams and spend some time setting them up. This can make an easy 400rwhp with response. You can even try a single throttle body style inlet manifold.

Something around the Trust TD07 / T78 range would be killer for response on a 30DET.

Although a K5 Blitz seems to work well on 2J and RB26.

If I was looking at garrett trim turbo's Id look at the HKS equivalent. No point in pouiring all this money into a car only to have a generic turbo slapped on.

*wheezy awaits flamage :P

What other things like std/not std gearbox ratios and tyres are you intending to use .

These things make a difference when looking into turbos because some combinations are going to need more low down torque than others .

If you want it to be a mountain of torque from low revs and max out at around 500+ you could think along the lines of a GT3076R with the 0.82 or 1.06 turbine housing .

If 600 is the ask the maybe a GT3582R .

Personally I wouldn't bother with Garretts version of the T04Z , if I wanted power in that region I'd go straight to their GT4088R which is a twin scroll turbocharger probably in at least the 0.95 A/R turbine housing .

A .

    • Can't see that being a thing.
    • My fob has never worked, I once attempted to follow the procedure to re-key it, (I have other fobs for the car alarm thing in there). I actually have three of them. Do aftermarket alarms take over the pairing mechanism for central locking? Or do they piggyback off it? I suppose it depends on the system, right? I have four sets of keys/keyfobs. One definitely works, one I think works, one definitely doesn't work, and I have the OEM one that has never worked :p. Is this fixable/workable/whatever? I mean I know it's beyond "just clean it" but how *do* they get synced up?
    • It's actually a really weird comparison... the MX5 is on another level and I kinda question this comparison at all. It'd be closer to compare it to a GTI/Golf/Hatch anything that kicks around. NC MX5 with a turbo has the right to go up with and beat the FD RX7 or 180SX or any other JDM hero car. That's the comparison that would really ruffle feathers.
    • @MBS206 you need more shed in your life... What sort of car is your mates race car?  Hopefully he returns the favour when you're ready to get cracking on yours! None of my mates are into cars so I don't have to worry about that as a distraction thankfully.  I have enough other distractions so I don't need that one too!  Between working 6 days a week (5 1/2 really so 55 hours or so per week), both kids have basketball almost every week night (including Friday night in Melbourne - 2 hours away), my daughter plays netball as well, my sons footy has started now and I coach his under 14's side as well as I'm on the Footy club committee this year, I ride motorbikes every spare Sunday I can find, plus trying to be some sort of a husband.  Life is a busy little exercise at the moment!  I wish there were 8 or 9 days in a week sometimes!
    • Ha ha, that is very true!  I'm too scared to leave it in the position though, it tingles my balls seeing it like that!
