Hi

I have a 96 Skyline Series 2 GTS-T

now atm its got 3" standard cat back exhaust system with a jazma muffler

now im from the gold coast and if any of you know geoff from Sebring Mufflers (Mermaid Waters)

ive seen him for an upgrade to turbo back + dump pipe

anyway he told me about a muffler that he can sell me which is called Hyper Muffler?

and i think the brand is TRR ?? cant remember but when i search hyper muffler it comes up with TANABE?

he said its a really good performer and has the drift look angle as they are designed to be fitted like that?

anyway if ive made any sense with the brand labeling can someone knowledgeble tell me if they are a good exhaust to go with?

price quote was 300-400 dollars for the cannon alone.

and 300 for hi flow ttr cat

thanks

JAZMA isn't a brand... its just a quality standard that aftermarket sports exhausts need to meet in japan.

so having said that there is probably no real useful reason to be changing the muffler as its probably good enough. (that's without actually seeing what you have though)

as for the dump/cat. i personally can't give you feedback as ive not heard of this muffler/dump/cat. what kind of money are they asking for these items? what diameter piping are we talking? is the dump split or combined?

Closest thing off the top of my head could possibly be JJR and they do a exhaust system called hyperflow?

edit:

Just also had a thought in regards to recommendations. Prolly need to have some idea of how much money your willing to spend. But as a general rule 3-3.5inch is good sized piping, the highest flowing cat that can be afforded and a split dump pipe, also how loud or quiet you want the exhaust to be.

Cheers

i've never heard of the hyper muffler or the brand TRR. you are probably better off going with something more reputable and known. it looks to me that this guy is over quoting you.

$300-400 for a cannon muffler/resinator is very expensive. at the end of the day it's just a tip.

$300 is very expensive for a high flow cat. how much CFM does it flow to? has to be at least 600-700 CFM.

hope that helps.

btw, check out the trader section of the site for some great deals.

380 dump pipe

400 Hyper Muffler

300 hi flo cat

160 cai s/s piping

200 labour

that was what he exactly quoted me

unsure what CFM the cat is

but it was a rounded one not the usual looking ones

looked like the one on this photo

http://www.nativoperformance.com/Productos...e10301SwebA.jpg

dump pipe is not twin as he said u lose space as its been halfed and such so much better to go with a single pipe

with my current exhaust pipe (JAZMA) he mentioned its fairly restrictive and that the Hyper Muffler is a good performance muffler.

thanks for your quick replys just making sure im getting a good deal.

so far everyone thinks im paying a fair amount.?

The price is not offensive except all the parts are a little bit of an unknown which for me isn't very attractive.

as for split dump pipes... if you buy a decent design (can recommend the bos import dump, contact BATMBL on this forum) they are the go for sure or a cheaper option would be the JJR split dump...i fear this dude is just saying its not as good because he doesn't stock one...

In my opinion you would be better off purchasing a bolt on catback system from one of the big manufacturers like the HKS, Trust, Fujisubo, etc. Then purchasing a split dump and cat off probably any of the traders on this website and bolt it up yourself. Honestly installing a bolt on exhaust system is one of the easiest mods you could ever do on your car. The hardest part would probably getting some of the old nuts undone..

Cheers

why don't you do your own reasearch first and then install it yourself. No need for this thread really in my opinion

well i am trying to find out if TTR is a reputable brand for starters as im finding it hard to find a website on the brand. so do u not classify that as researching?

if i could install my self i wouldnt be explaining the prices of someone else to do it.

forums are a palce to seek advice not criticism that isnt constructive.

^^^^^^ What he said. Look at the just jap web site. $895 for a kakimoto exhaust thats legal is pretty good in my opinion. Unfortunately for the workshops out there, there is no need for you to get a custom made exhaust, as theyre available off the shelf for your application. If you want that dodgy guy to do something, get him to fit a metal cat catylitic converter ($330).

Take our advice, we've all been through it before. The quality of the jap exhausts is second to none.

Shaun.

thanks for the feed back Shaun, the guy is leaving the exhaust piping as is and he is just replacing exhaust and cat with a hi flow cat and drift exhaust so i dont know whether your talking about the exhaust or the piping
