Hey everyone

Just curious. I got a R31 Skyline and when I pull the dip stick out, sorta white/brown... does this mean the head or gasket is stuffed? A mate reckons I should flush it out, put some of that oil cleaner through it cause he reckons it might be corosion or something and put some additive incase it is leaking in.. should i do that?

nah i like this one... like it still goes hard.. doesnt over heat, doesnt have compression problems... might need a good flush and oil stuff put through it like so seal the area up etc... ill muck around with it tommorow. i only got it tonight :ninja: im from melbourne so do you guys hold skyline meet ups? wouldnt mind coming to one

Milkshakes are good. milkshake coming out of ur motor...not so good. I think ur right, blown head gasket. Dude, just be careful...no offence, but ur motor is on borrowed time if u just keep driving it like that.

yeah i know.. i was looking this up and on the net, they said:

Check the oil coming out while draining it.If it looks funny like choclate milk then yes it might be the headgasket.

But if not then it is condensation.Your car doesn't have a flame trap. It only has a vent box. But some of the smaller hoses will get clogged sometimes.

*** This means it might not be the head gasket*** i was told i can try some additive which goes around expanding the gasket etc

I guess you can just carry out a test to see if it is your headgasket by checking ur water levels frequently. If it's using a whole heap of water (not leaking externally), then you got your problem and then I'd prolly try using additive before doing a headgasket...on that note, additives are usually a temporary fix. If u can get ur hands on a TeeKay tester...awesome!

well apparently my head gasket/head is not stuffed now.. before i got the car which wasnt started for ages, it showed milky white stuff on the dip stick of the oil.. drove it home with a good run, and checked it yesterday morning, light brown so i stuck more oil in cause it needed more oil and checked it this morning, and its still brown... stuff knows what went on.. must of needed a good run cause of the consoldation

drop the oil and put new oil in.. if you plan on keeping it get a good service and get all the crap replaced.. ask them to look at the coolant system too and replace faulty or cracking hoses.. might cost u $300 but you wont break down or have your engine overheat randomly one day when you 10000000km from civilisation!!

Oh also buy an alarm imobiliser please.. or a club lock either one if you wanna keep it
