I recently replaced my tyres and got a wheel alignment and balance for all 4 corners. This helped high speed stability and smoothness, but the steering wheel still shudders and the car feels unsafe.

What else could be causing this? I'm aware one or more bearings might need regreasing/replacing. Is this the only possible solution?

Thanks.

probably best to bring it to a suspension shop and ask them to have a look at it. Then they can tell you what exactly the problem is. And if you are quite mechanical you can fix it your self =)

You think the weights can make it vibrate that much?

Ok i'll get it looked into- just annoying when workshops don't get it right first time round.

No chance of the bearings being rooted? (i hope not, more work involved)

Could be a bearing. Could be a worn tie-rod end. Could be a worn steering rack end.

Weights are there to prevent rotation wobble. Even a slight imbalance caused by one of the weights going AWOL can cause a significant vibration.
