Hi, guys,

I ordered a HKS GT2835 Pro S (0.68) from nengun but I was wondering if my car will still be road worthy if I install it. WIll I still be able to get my road worthy certificate (pink slip) if I install the turbo? I reside in the ACT

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's low mount, so it shouldn't draw big attention like a high mount would.

Anyway, you can get a new turbo engineered to it's 'legal' (but any police officer can still serve you a defect notice so that you have to get it OK'ed again at the pits - may just require you showing the engineering report).

You know who you COULD ring? the RTA. And get a defnite answer. You don't need to give names or rego numbers while asking this kind of question, and they will give you the URLs of the appropriate doco (if you can't find it on their site).

Changing turbos is not against the law, modifying the vehichle to accomidate can be aka atmo wastegates ect.

Pro S

So that side of things wont be a problem...

But yeah at the end of the day a cop can still deem it unroadworthy/defectable

Slightly off topic but what car is it going on?

R33 GTS-T.

My concern is however, I recently purchased the car, and I have to go through the pits in a couple of months time to get it inspected in order to get my pink slip, but I am planning on putting the pro S in in the next couple of weeks, thus, by the time I take my car in for inspection (roadworthy certificate), my pro S will be installed.

I don't mean will;l I get defected by a cop, what I am trying to ask is, will I pass the inspection in order to get a road worthy?

Maybe I should cover it with the stock heat sheild, but Id have to modify it....

mate if it's not leaking any oil and or coolant, then you will pass a road worthy.

road worthy certificate is more about making sure the car is pretty much that.. Road worthy.

how much tread is on the tyres, (including spare).

any oil leaks?

any fluid leaks?

brake test.

they measure the brake discs to make sure they have at least the bare minimum thickness.

pads have enough meat.

indicators work.

parkers

headlights.

high beams.

brake lights.

windscreen wipers and their rubber without streaks.

Battery load testing.

that's pretty much it.

You could have a high mounted T88 and they wouldn't give a crap.

The mechanics that do the road worthy that is.

cops are a different story.

Too impatient to just wait until you've got your RWC, then install it after? In ACT, once you've got RWC, I don't think you ever need to get it checked again (I've never needed to after buying a car), so noone's going to go looking unless you get pulled over and sent back to the pits.

Could you wait there patiently while the HKS GT2835 is starring you in the face saying "please install me, you wont regret it"?

Rego runs out in August, that's 6 months away, turbo gets here soon hopefully (2 weeks), nengun keep pushing the date back.... getting pretty sik of it...

I can't wait 6 months to install the 2835, I'd rather pay money to put the stock one back on for rego :D
