Hey everyone, well today i finally picked up the car after getting a full tune on the Microtech. I've been running around running the new turbo on the stock computer for a few months now but finally its all done and i'm very very impressed with it!! Hands down to Peter at TMS in townsville for all his help with my car and doing an awesome job on it to get it perfect.

Mods

Full 3" Blitz Exhaust with Magic Cat

HKS GTRS Turbo

Microtech LT12S

Plazmaman Plenum

Greddy Intercooler

Nismo 555cc injectors

Tomei Fuel Pump

Splitfire Coilpacks

Exedy Cushioned Button Clutch

Still standard

Throttle Body

No Cold Air Intake or Heat Shielding

Camshafts

All Internals

Its low boost setting was set to the HKS actuator's base setting which was 1 bar and high boost was set at a bit under 18psi (tried running 20psi and started making more power however spark was being blown up at top end, need to run lower gap for 20psi). It has been raining up here in Townsville a lot lately and the humidity is huge, so this really didnt help with the tune (comparing to somewhere cold down south), however it still made good power for how hot it is.

The dyno graph is attatched above but its just the way the car drives that best describes it. Positive boost pressure is being made at about 1600-1700rpm and the turbo is very responsive, perfect for my type of driving and being a daily driven street car. With the microtech running map sensors it doesnt feal any different then it did running a stock computer and airflow metre. Acceleration is smooth, driving around is perfect under all conditions and idle is also perfect. Have read a lot about microtechs being a bit rough to tune and cant get perfect drivability like you can out of a Power FC but i honestly can't see it, i strongly believe it all comes down to the tuner and Pete did a great job.

Now, me and Peter both agree that with some Tomei Poncams, lower gapped plugs so we can run 20psi and using a slightly bigger throttle body (maybe 15mm bigger, not too sure, havn't really looked into them other then the Hypertune ones), and a bit of heat shielding or a CAI, we can push around 285-295 out of my car. However at the moment i am more then impressed with it in its current form and wont be doing this for a while, but it still leaves me a little headroom if i want more.

So again just wanted to say thanks to Peter and everyone that helped with the car (Bobby, Pedro, Adam etc) to get it finally done and running. :)

Don't think the GT-RS will get you 295rwkw, but good luck with the future mods ;)

Agreed. The turbo is just too small.

I had a GTRS, till recently.

good result, perfect street turbo.

I used to run a mircotech and i loved it. Cheap to purchase, good tuning pints and map sensor, and like you said it all comes down to the tuner. You get someone that actually knows their stuff and the mircotech will never do you wrong.

nice one ,will see what happens when you put cams ,my money is on more torque not that much power ,what was your torque my last dyno was 844nm

He forgot to print out the torque figure graph so ill stop by later on this week and have a look. I wanna know aswell because it pulls extremely well so i think torque will be fairly decent.

Nice. I've got a GTRS going in very soon Hoping for about the same power.

You'll love it man, i gave it quite a lot last night :) and for the first time ever i was actually a bit scared winding it all the way to 7000rpm.

Ouch!! Thats a bit of damage there. Nice figure of 268 though, what boost was that on?

Exactly right, the tuner is everything and i have no complaints with the microtech what so ever.

Hey mate,

Good to see u have gotten such a good result!

Huge difference over running it untuned?

-Dragonforce

Huge man. Untuned it just ran like a dog, now its a completely different car to drive and power is just instantly available and over 4000rpm you just get planted in your seat. Ill take it to the drags once i get some better rubber for the rear. Took a few people for a bit of a drive and we all agree it should easily be a high/mid 12 in her.

should nearly do a low 12 with that power

Ill just be happy with mid 12s, up here its really only in the best winter nights when you can run good times, humidity and heat kills it.

how is the cold start with the microtech
Third go, every go.

Cold start is fine, it hunts around for a couple of seconds from 1000rpm to 600rpm until it settles. He tuned the idle for a few hours alone to get it right but he couldnt get it perfect. Probably due to the idle control valve being on an aftermarket plenum. But yeah not sure what the hell uz mean about third go, every go :/

nice result! what are ur afr's?? id assume ur running a rich tune?

When its ramping up onto boost its running about 10.9:1 and then once on boost sits on about 12.2:1 (looking at the dyno graph here, bit hard to tell exact numbers)

We chucked a good amount of fuel into it when it comes onto boost just to accomadate for a very hot day in traffic and coming onto boost so it doesnt ping.

Fuel economy is really good, just from driving around yesterday and today ive noticed very good economy compared to the good old days running the turbo on the stock ECU lol.

Nice result! cant wait to get mine tuned :/, only 25days away lol

What fuel? and are you still using the stock dump and front pipes or after market?
