the designs don't look half bad... as long as they don't call it a 4 door "GTR"... call it a G37 super touring or G37 CTS or something haha Infiniti needs to stop using the skyline heritige as their branding. G35's G37's aren't bad cars but they're also not skylines. The 350Z and 240sx has their own history.. you don't see them saying that they're 'skylines' or a 350Z GTR or anything. I'm all for Nissan/Infiniti making an attempt to try their luck in the performance luxury sedan market... as long as they don't call it a GTR or Skyline.

Bring back the Stagea Autech 380RS :/ Anyone? Take the battle to the RS6 Avant (Sort of)

P.S. Yes I am aware of the fact that M35 Stagea and R35 GTR are slightly different, being that they share nothing

Not bad looking,... but it's not a Skyline, nor a GTR.

I feel the same way when I see a G35,... nice car no doubt, has done well in the U.S.,.. but seeing the imported Nissan versions with the Skyline badge,... well you know, it ain't a "pure-bred" Skyline.

But hey, at least the sketches don't include the classic "stoveplate" tail lights.

If they did ever build a 4 door GTR, then make the back door like the RX8, I reckon that is a sweet set up... Not to mention rather compact...

It would top the Lotus Carlton for being one of the quickest 4 doors on the planet... Surely...

Firstly sorry your car is a GTS4 with an RB26...

Its like saying my GTS4 is a GTR but with an RB20

Erm, if you replace every drive train component over to GTR, what real difference is there? Because that is why my car has.

Anyway, there were 4-door GTRs, released by Autech.

I think it has merit. The real thing will not look that good, or as good as the R35 coupe.

There will be a market for this car (not everywhere) and some folk (fat Americans) will want a practical saloon they can give a squirt every now and then on the way home through the hills.

BMW and Mercedes are awesome at making ballsy saloons, so let Nissan try it out.

If it bombs then we're none the worse. We'll just have more spare parts in 10 years :ermm:

Quite a few bit's didn't make it onto the Autech's. They don't have an aluminium bonnet/guards and quite a few other bits.

And they didn't sell real well in Japan understandably. Last pics I saw of a few of them together they were dirty and rusted. good news is a nice example would be plenty cheaper than an R33 GTR. There's a better market for them in Australia, as we like to 'all pile in' our mates car like the pack of bogans, deep down we know we all are.

Don't look as good . Don't go as good. But, they don't look bad or go bad and can carry a bunch of your drunk mates. :P

As long as its not branded as a GT-R and they tune it and set it up accordingly, I'm all for it. Its going to be an Infiniti, which is more luxury and less racing. Maybe call it an Infiniti R38 or something, and position it against the M5 / E55 / RS6 / XFR.

Don't make it the last word in speed like the GT-R is, but set it up as a good tourer. With the GT-R's ability do do 300km/hr on the autobahn and allow the passengers to hold a conversation, add more sound deadening and let everyone in the car talk to each other. Tune it for more midrange and redo the diff ratios so it would be noticably slower than the halo car at full pelt but a more "relaxed" drive on a freeway. Soften the suspension out, but keep it adaptive to give it a good ride/handling compromise for its class. Make the interior less techno-race and more luxo, as befitting an Infiniti.

The R35 GT-R already shits on the Audi R8 and the BMW M6 when it comes to being a sports coupe - its time for Nissan/Infiniti to release a luxury tourer to take a second dump on the Germans.

The "touring" V35 is softer and more comfortable, but slower, than the "sports" Z33 it shares the FM platform with, and I think the R35 and whatever this four door PM platform car should have the same relative ethos'.

Nissan being able to leverage the time and money its thrown into developing the GT-R into another model may bring the costs of both down. And, I think we can agree, a cheaper GT-R is a good thing for us mere mortals.

i dunno i dont like it, for me a gtr has always been a 2door turbo awd, it makes me think of it been more of a taxi

The first part has almost nothing to do with the second part.

Nowhere has it been said that this sedan will be badged or marketed as as GT-R (Ghosn has already said that the GT-R will be a Nissan, and this thing will be badged as an Infiniti). It'll just use the same platform, to cut costs.

And the first GT-R was a RWD sedan, so it just shows that your knowledge of the GT-R's history doesn't go back far enough.

Is Autech Still around these days?

cos they will probably do something stupid like a 4 door GTR

Saurmatix - your GTS4 is not a GTR.

Its like me putting a LS2, Suspension and a Clubsport Bodykit onto my VZ Commodore and calling it a Clubsport.

It may look the same, same power - but it isnt - and building a car to be like something its not is just gay.

    • Much less twat-tastic. CF wheels are too garish for civilised use.
    • From there, as the manual says....assembly is the reverse of disassembly, no tricks worth mentioning Much better (for me)
    • In my case, the standard wheel I had was in good condition but the buttons had more wear, so I swapped them across from the original wheel from the car. The plastic rear cover is held on by 4 tabs, and once the wiring is removed you can get access to 2 screws on each side the hold the buttons in From there I just swapped the wiring over. What was interesting is the standard style wheel is 2.0kg but the carbon fibre one is 50% heavier at 2.9kg. It even has a weight inside the wheel at the top to make up for some sort of imbalance in the design. weird
    • Once the airbag is off, to remove the steering wheel.... Undo the 2 plugs into the clock spring, and the horn connector from it's clip. Hit the 19mm nut with a rattle gun (preferably) or if you don't' have one, you probably want an assistant to hold the wheel in place while you use a breaker bar to undo the nut Then, screw the nut back on 3 turns, and pull the wheel sharply towards you. If that doesn't work hit it medium force with a rubber mallet on either side, or possible behind if you can get there. If that all fails (it shouldn't!) you might need a steering wheel puller
    • So, to next task....the carbon fibre steering wheel was either an expensive factory option or a chinesium special. Either way, I don't like either the flat bottom or thick ring style, so it had to go So...to remove the steering wheel.... First, disconnect battery negative and stomp on the brake pedal for a few seconds. Then, remove the small circular covers on each side of the wheel's rear surround to uncover the airbag clips. You need to push something like a flat bladed screw driver through, to push the steel clip inwards and pull the side of the airbag forward. Once you've done the easy side, same on the centre console side. You can see the tab you are shooting for circled in red Then, disconnect the horn spade connector and for the yellow airbag plug you need to get something small under the black locking tab to pop it out, then the connector releases......airbag is off
