hi i ve just put the standard air box on my gtr for a roady , wondering are these really all that restrictive ? what sort of power can these handle ,?

ive got N1s 2.5 inch dumps , 2.5inch front. and 3 inch cat back , also a 600x300x120mm cooler .?

will the air box hold it back when i take it to get tuned?

cheers pete

Do a search, been covered be4 with results. I even experimented on mine (cat back xhaust & 14psi), & couldnt believe the difference. basically scrap the bottom 1/2 to d/c it from the resonator setup & leave the top half in place. I have a k&n filter in mine. I had blitz pods on be4 but the filtration aint that great

The 32 airbox isnt 'the best', but its not 'too bad'...

The R33 one however people have had excellent results with so if you wanted to go the airbox route (and, no reason no too), chase the R33 one down

Also depends how much power/airflow your after dude, you havent provided a lot of detail

Might be worth just removing the snorkel - mine had a plastic sleeve that sits inside the internal and external pieces, that was closed in on itself and would have been restricting flow. You get at tiny bit more BOV noise but that's it.

Pete you're in a great position do all of us R32 GTR owners a favour. Try my test ie pods, stock box with a stock ie nissan panel filter, and then remove the bottom of the stock box and tape the panel in. Or even just stock box with / without the bottom half if you're not going to try pods. Shouldn't cost you anything for one or two more power runs if you're tuning anyway.

That will confirm if your experience is the same as mine and Mike's ie the bottom of the box is restrictive beyond a certain point. Remember if you're worried about legality it's also a good test as the box looks stock with the bottom half removed as the top butts up to the washer bottle, but once you put pods on it's a different story.

Cheers
