hey all i have noticed that united petrol station have a 98 pump these days. i have not tried it but has any one and is there any way to no whether its actually 98 octane. its seems to cheap compared to bp to be true. i saw it yesturday at $1.35 a litre. thats a saving of about 15cents.

am i right in saying that my car would knock more if i put it in (as its tuned on BP 98) if it wasnt 98 octane??? just monitor it on pfc hand controller. how ever dont really want my engine being the test unit.

might google it

Always rumours that even though it's 98 its still going to be different to BP 98, which is what most cars (with a/m computers) are tuned to in WA. Also, always rumours of people filling up with caltex 98 & getting a knock reading every now and then. Then, always rumous of people filling up with caltex 98 & not having any sort of change at all.

ive always used bp ultimate in mine and nothing else since import. Don think i will be changing now.. even tho 10 cents or so a litre cheaper is tempting. :D .. But the sky comes first so i think i will just pay it..

Maybe if you want give it a go, fill up half a tank and see how it goes... if it runs crap then u can fill up the other half with bp ultimate and hopefully that can improve it enough till it uses it all up? ..

I know some skylines that run on Shell 95... and they seem to run ok... but for a ~10cents less a litre... is it really worth it? When the damage bill can be much higher... :P

I put some in my tank last night 134c/L car seams to be running perfectly fine will give it a thrashing tonight and see if she blows

Let me know how it runs dude. Atm I'll willing to pay 10cents extra if it betters the car in the long run though. Plus I dont think Rocko has a United servo.

I usually run mine on Caltex 98 or BP98, only had bad fuel once when the caltex had almost run out (stupid me for filling up). Have also filled up with peak 98 and not had any troubles, but I will continue to fill up from caltex cos there's 3 of them within 5 mins of me and I have a fuel card. Filling up with std unleaded or 95 isn't really worth risking or hurting ur car with.

I dont get a choice . . in karratha we have a BP but they dont have 98 . . the highest is premium . . and when i asked if they had 98 they didnt even know what it was??? RETARDS!!! So i have to use premium
