Recommended Posts

If you go down to the drags tonight in Perth for whoop ass Wednesday you will see a Black R35 GTR having a go and for the people who cant be their it is being filmed and I assume a movie with times will be on Youtube later tonight.

I will post the time when I find out as the person driving knows what he is doing so it should be good.

11.6 with the speed cut kicking in before the end of the quarter mile.

I think you just made a lot of new r35 owners (well, on order anyway) very happy

Vids? Time slips?

Same think happened with his EVO 8 MR and one of the EVO forums who know everything, someone stated he posted a quick time off the show room which turned out to be quicker times then what the UK were doing and all of a sudden we in Perth were all lairs,

thats cool - how come then NIssan list "11.7s" as their time rather than lower..surely if Steve Jones hit that time, there must be professional nissan testers able to run quicker/similar times.

Just keep in mind running times at a strip compared to using a system like a Correvit style system that most car companies and magazines use will always net a different (read: faster) time. See, at a strip, timing doesn't start until the timing beam is broken. With a hard launching car like a GTR or Porsche turbo etc you'd probably already be doing 10 - 15 klm/h by the time you break the beam, hence the "quicker" dragway times. Correvit and GPS based systems start timing as soon as the vehicle moves.

Regardless though, that's a fantastic time for a stocky

Aha!

You read my mind!

Track vs GPS!

Different advantages/disadvantages...

In some cases traction can even be more limiting at a particularly sticky or slippery track, thus affecting launch, and ultimately slip times! The launch control systems are designed to balance wheel-spin with grip. Tracks can throw these systems a 'curve ball'!
