Hey guys, im wanting to know whats a good reading for a compression test on an rb26 engine, i just got a new motor put in, and would like to make sure its going to be healthy for me.

Basically the guy i bought it off advised me the readings he got before giving the motor to me were:

165.7

165.8

167.3

170.2

165.1

165.4

Is this a healthy motor?, and i want to do a leakdown just to make sure....

How much will it cost to get a compression test done, and wet/dry leakdown test???

Thanks.

thats pretty good, maybe even a little bit high for a RB26.

My RB25 was 165psi across all 6, and its compression ratio is 9:1.

THe RB26 comp ratio is lower so you would expect lower compression test results.

As long as they are all equal or within 5% mate.

Cranking compression has alot more variables than just compression ratio.

OMG! Nah mate thats terrible, its going to let go soon - take it back and say you changed your mind

Im kidding, do a search on comp tests and you will see those numbers are fine. Now go get the keys, take it to a track, and make it earn its keep!

Personally I like the mathematical precision at which the tests were performed. 165.7 on cylinder 1 are you sure it wasn't 165.732 psi?

I'd be doing my own test as those firgures sound like he's pulled them out of his arse.
